My family are from Liverpool UK, as a kid my mum would mix corned beef in with mash, yum with baked beans !

when I make it Ill get corned beef from the deli and just have them slice it at the thickest width - then dice. NICE.

I boil my spuds with onion till almost cooked then drain 80% of water out adding the corn beef settle creating a nice thick soup kind of texture then adding chicken gravy granuals to thicken more. Add herbs carrots or a touch of spice if needed to make a delicious potato ash. Thats how i make it and thats how i love it yummy

Wrong step 1 fry 1 pound of bacon, place bacon on paper towels, add potatoes and onions to the pan with the bacon grease stir cook and brown until tender then add the corn beef now crumble up that bacon add to the pot give it a good stir and serve..No broth ever needed and it's packed with flavor!

Wow! Who’d a thought making hash would start with canned corn beef! This reminds me of their “homemade baked beans” recipe that starts with 4 cans of bushes baked beans...I’m at a loss for words🙄

Carrot, onion (quartered not diced), Corned beef tinned or cut, potato, beef stock (stronger the better), and Worcestershire or brown sauce. Herbs and seasoning to taste (go easy on seasoning though as the beef was corned with Rock salt and commercial beef stock cubes are very salty) serve with red cabbage, brown sauce and ketchup you can thrown in a tin of baked beans to make it thicker if you want. You simmer the lot until it's all tender (but not mush). If you want to make it a bit more elevated you can caramelise a soffrito/mirepoix in the saucepan first. Plus any earthy vegetables lying around.

It needs a lot of salt and pepper, and then to be fried in a little oil until crispy. (Skip the broth.)

I much prefer doing this dish in my slow cooker, add chopped carrots and maybe baked beans sometimes :)

What you have to do is make mashed potatoes (any recipe) and mash corned beef and any ingredients you desire in with the potatoes . Usually I use 3 times more potatoes than corned beef.

mjbab73, before the invention of home freezers there was only three ways to keep meat for the long term, salt cured, dried, or canned. You can can most any meat that you want to my knowledge. I know as a kid on the farm my mom canned all the meat that we didn't salt cure. Most anything can be canned and there's not a thing wrong with it. =)

Hmmmm, no. Where's the butter? You need a good 1/2 stick of butter to get that crust that we all love! And really this is no better than the CBH in a can. But it is quick, if that's what you are looking for.

This is not how corn beef hash is done, you need to mash the potatoes and mix in the cornbeef and put in the oven.

corned beed in uk, is either in a tin, like shown, or in slices from your local supermarket. so.... thats all ive ever seen, maybe usa corned beef is different :)
