WOW! Finally, a Romanian (budget) car we can be proud of in Europe! This is the real volks-wagen! In Romania, it's cheaper than in the UK - the basic trim, Acces, costs 8800 euros, about 7500 pounds. But the cheapest new car in Romania (the most popular) is Dacia Logan (sedan - I have a new one made in 2020), 300 euros cheaper than Sandero, but 40 cm longer (because of the trunk - 528 litres capacity), a larger space inside- for 3 people on the rear seat, low fuel consumption (also on LPG), taxes, insurances, etc, and at the Essential trim level, you get in standard manually air-conditioning and fog lights, in plus than at the same trim level of Sandero. Not bad at all!

Nice Car! Here in Germany we say: this is the real Volkswagen!

2 months in, and I love it. Would not pay a penny more for a car. But I don’t drive much (or rather long), and consider a car a tool much like a vacuum cleaner or a toaster.

Not going to lie, new Sandero looks pretty good and I kinda want one.

I have a 2017 Sandero and it's been brilliant. My next car will be a Dacia also as a car is just a tool for me and it seems senseless to pay way more when Dacia make such decent cars.

Looks quite nice to be honest, no doubt the badge snobs will disapprove

The first VW golf...26500 in the Netherlands, get you 90 hp, 6 gear... And the Sandero gives you 90 hp, 6 gears.? Difference 10000 euro's....

Rebecca's review is much better than What Car?'s: makes it clear that you can't compare EuroNCAP results under the latest criteria with those previously. Silly WhatCar? dropping Sandero as a recommended car when most 5* cars (including the Clio) haven't been tested to the same new standard!

On plushness it falls short compared to its rivals? Which rivals in the £8-£11k price range are plush? Also I think you’re the only reviewer I’ve seen complain about the gear change and pedal feel.

All of these Sanderos for the UK come into the country via the Port of Tyne, they're great fun.

I test drove one of these today, I agree with most of this however the pedals aren’t THAT bad, yes they’re light but mushy? Nah!

Steering is very light and does lack a bit of feel but is adequate for the driving style intended by anyone who buys this car.

I have had mine for nearly two years now, bought new in Dec 2021. It has been faultless with good fuel consumption running on E5 petrol. The car is good around town and perfectly fine on long motorway trips. This is my second Dacia, my previous car being a 2018 Sandero Stepway. My next car will also be a Sandero, as the car does exactly what I want it to do.

I got a new stepway essential. It's fine. 12k with metalic paint. Didn't like the gears at first, but they settled down after 100 miles. Don't like ECO mode as it takes away some control, but can be turned off. Nice car. Update:The gears are worse on some days than others. When the car is hot they can be a real pain. I can't see why they have fitted a good engine, created nice bodywork and stuck in a dodgy gearbox and temperamental clutch. I've driven many cars and never had this problem. I'd have happily forgotten about the bi-fuel option just to get a decent gearbox.

The new Sandero punches above its weight and does a very good job of it! For the price what more do you want? If you want something that is better quality, has a better drive then pay more and go for a fiesta or Clio or Polo etc. But don't moan it does not have this or it does not have that, the point of the Sandero is to be cheap but not to feel like a cheap car it comes in between the past ultra cheap cars and the slightly more premium cars, perfect! I'm sure it will serve alot of people very well indeed!
