In this video I show the difference between 1k auto paint and 2k auto paint. 1k paints have been around for a long time and is an older method of spray painting. It is safe to spray at home or garage and you can also get a great finish.
In this video I go into detail the differences and how to get that 1k acrylic looking awesome.

Love how comprehensive this video is! Lots of good information in the video. I feel like I'm in university. This is the definition of a quality video.

I'm impressed that you talk about the safety hazards of 2k paint. I wasn't initially aware of this until I did some research before improving my classic car. I'm disappointed that most other 2k paint demonstrations on you tube do not mention this very important subject! I'm happy to use 1k paint with protective clothing, nitrile gloves and a filtered face mask at home. However I have found that some 1k epoxy primers still contain he dreaded iso stuff. Keep making this very informative and useful videos.

I painted my car with 1k a year ago in my garage. I'd never painted before, just learned from YouTube. A year later it still looks awesome and its easy to fix mistakes and damage with thee acrylic. 2k hardens on your lungs and your neighbours lungs if you don't have a proper booth. It's not worth the risk.

I called around A LOT of different places to get custom paint mixed up, called VG Auto Paint and had the best customer experience EVER! He not only was able to get the colour that i wanted (rose gold), but went the extra step in getting the tone right to the exact colour i wanted. Couldn't be happier with the service provided.

Thanks for revisiting this comparison. Watched your first one years ago and finally about to start on a resto at home in 1k. The insight and guidance is invaluable!
Keep up the great work 👍

Amazing mirror finish polish, great to see 1K vs 2K, and the extra work for the results with 1K. Cheers for the vid.

Just finished my new side scoops with DupliCoat 1K clear. Got fantastic results right out of the rattle can vs. the SprayMax 2K that I used on my front bumper cover. I had the opposite experience of this vid. For whatever reason the 2K seemed to be dull and harder to lay down. Needed multiple coats to get a shine. The 1K layed down a nice gloss and got better with each coat. Seemed much easier for me... I'm a DIYer. The only down side for me with 1K is having to wait 2-3 days for it to cure. This video has educated me in terms of how to cut and polish the final product. That's the most important thing. Thanks!

Thanks. I'm currently reading a book on prep and finish. I'm stuck somewhere, i had to prospect to comprehend that passage. Your video answered my prayers 🙏.

Im flabbergasted lol only three days wait for acrylic before wet sanding with only 1200 grit, then compounding for a great finish. I'm no expert but I have to wait at least a week, start with 1200 then go 1500 then 2000 and even 2500, then compound and I still get scratches on the finish. You make it look easy! Great job!

Very helpful to those of us with little to no experience in painting. I do not have a booth and always wanted to do a paint job. I am into airbrushing right now and want to clear over it too.

Another great video, seen the bonnet in the store last weekend and it looked great under the lights. Keep up with the videos, would like to see more content. The more that are focused on the DIY the better, even look at re doing some of the older videos with an updated look and new products.

I have never seen a paint shop so neat & clean.

Good video, most car snobs say "only use 2k cuz it's sooo great, " but it seems like even they don't fully understand the benefits and drawbacks.

Thank you very much. I was looking for a good explanation on 1k and 2k. I got a bonus education with buffering pads. I wish I would’ve known more about acrylic, since I am painting my car at home

I’m blown away by the results of the 1k! And on black too, that’s what really proves the results. I’m wondering about the durability and solvent resistance though??

It would be great if you did a video with a list with all the things you need to do a home project, for first triers as myself.

Huh, was wondering this! Usually I use 1K base coat, 1K primer, and 2K clear when I do things with a spray can. All the benefits of 2K protection without the hassle of having to get a full spray-booth setup.
