From what I learned the 2x is 1K but have the capacity to coat 2x times that’s why is 2X

The 2x isn’t a “type” of clear. That’s just their marketing verbiage saying it provides 2 times the spray coverage with the tip that’s on the can compared to a regular can. If you look at it on the can, it’s trademarked and a marketing tool basically. The SprayMax clear is a 2 step clear and about the best clear coat in a can hands down.

2x just means 2 times the coverage over a typical spray bomb. 2x is just normal spray paint that alot of people think is special like 2k but it's not.

He never mentioned that only 2k is solvent/petrol resistant. That regular enamel will just wash off if you splash degreaser/brake cleaner on it

How long will 2K last in freezer? How long will it prolong being able to use?

For further clarification for people learning out there:
2K means any product that is activated with a hardener/catalyst. These products will dry as the solvent evaporates, then cure. "2-component".
1K is a product that can be reflowed, and does not have a hardener/catalyst. They will only dry as their solvent evaporates.
2X is just some brand naming nonsense. It has no relevance to actual refinishing.

You want 2K for any final topcoat, or surfacing build. Only your conversion coats and intermediate basecoats should be 1K. Others CAN be. But they shouldn't.

The confusion was intentioanl by Rustoleum. I do like rustoleum for restoring headlight restorations. It's uv resistance is fantastic for preventing yellowing

The 2X acrylic might crack from heat. Acrylic cracks. The wrinkling from the acrylic is from the acetone in the 2X clear. You didn't shake it enough. Need to bleed the excess acetone out of a new can before use.

Have you noticed if there is a difference between the Rustoleum Automotive Enamel clear and the 2X clear? The Automotive says it is formulated for use on vehicles and the weather?

The difference between the two paints is that the 2x means twice the coverage and the 2k is two component paint which is the equivalent to body shop grade paint.
