It's crazy that we have for-profit, privately owned jails and prisons here in America. If you want to put money on someone's books, you can get charged a double digit fee to do so, no matter the amount you put in. All the commissary is overpriced and you can't have anything brought in from outside. Extreme rationing of things like hygiene products should be illegal, but here we are. In order to keep these jails profitable, they need people to fill them and make profits for stockholders. Jail in America is big business.

I always had money on my books . Not a ton but enough for hygiene, writing materials, socks underwear, tee shirt and coffee . I had to have my coffee. I usually had enough for 6 packs of DP, and peanut butter and oatmeal. In mornings I never ate I worked and I’d do 2 spoons of peanut butter and a cup coffee for breakfast. Lots of women went with out and I helped when I could . We do recover !❤❤❤

The stay in jail with and without commissary is totally different. I've done both, but most times, I did without. I would be a trustee, and that got you some extra food.

Having hygienic products and food/snacks for energy is incredibly important the fact that you have to pay is unacceptable.

I had to go to jail a few days ago and when they do commissary, they call you up one by one while everyone else has to stay in their bunks and they make you bring your blanket. So you have to cover up your commissary with your blanket when you collect your stuff so nobody knows what you have.

They should have one that has hygiene, coffee, noodles, and sweets, this way you have a little bit of everything. Whoever put these together is dumb

At the jail I work at we just put out the holiday care pack it's 49.99. Most the packages are 59.99, but one is 18.99 and 24.99. The prices are crazy high and only people on the outside can get someone a package.
