Ketones and Brain Health: New Study on Parkinson’s Disease, with Dr. Ben Bikman

Dr. Bikman highlights a recent study on the benefits of a ketogenic diet for brain disorders, specifically Parkinson’s Disease.

The study suggests that adhering to a ketogenic diet can slow the progression of Parkinson’s and even improve some symptoms. This is likely due to the protective effect of ketones on dopamine-producing neurons.

Dr. Bikman emphasizes that the brain thrives on ketones, but the standard Western diet’s high carbohydrate intake prevents sufficient ketone production.

Thanks Dr. Bikman!! Dr. Anthony Chaffee just released a video of an interview with a woman who said her Parkinsonism was essentially put into remission with a Carnivore way of eating! 🎉

Dear Dr Bikman, what do you think of Dr Will Bulsiewicz (Dr B) and his plant based diet strategy? Why do some doctors (worldwide famous doctors) insist on plant based diet? But I trust more in your opinion and I'm eating more meat now and I'm sick and tired of limiting meat. 😢

Do you ever think the powers that be will succomb to the overwhelming fact that a truly Ancestral diet ( think 300 years past) is the best way forward to help all manner of conditions. Exercise is a huge factor too of course. Thank you Dr Bikman and Team.

Be good to see some research on MCT and coconut oil on various brain studies.

Our bodies produce lipases for fats, proteases for proteins but produce no cellulase because we are not supposed to eat foods containing cellulose. Easy to understand, but why, then, do we produce amylase if we are not supposed to eat carbohydrates? What is the purpose for the amylase then? Why do we have a 'sweet tooth'? Love your videos, learn something every time I watch them.
