Have watched so many tutorials, BUT You are the ONLY one who explained THE REASON WHY behind your each command and action(not just in this video, but EVERY your tutorial! That is very helpful for beginners to understand the reason behind. Some others are just kind of showing off, not explaining why, which does not help at all.

Excellent detailed tutorial as usual Ryan. I was going to save it to my "Watch later" list but for some reason I don't see that option with this video. Not sure why, so I just bookmarked it instead.

I'm encountering an issue when I bake, I am trying to take a pre-existing face model with appropriate UV as I customly edited the tangent of the normals of the face, but when I export it the Normal map is completely flat (except for a small yellow splotch on the chin that points down)

Nice Tutorial. Why I need UV-layer (it shows in the error, that no UV-layer is found)

Hey there, have you got more clean bakes such as this one ? for Heithg map and also position map? I am looking a particular style that use Position Map, curvature and Heith map, but not use any designer and not photoshop or materializer. thanks

im having a problem i sculpted a model and want to make the sculpt into a normal map but everytime i bake the normal doesnt actually have the details n stuff it just does some wierd thing idk how to explain it.

using cycles normal bake i can generate the normal map texture of any mesh "as it is"? meaning... i need to manipulate the normals for reasons (painterly effetct).. i don't wanna "bake X texture into normalmap" but just get the normal information that's already there.

this is based on the texture itself right? not a more detailed object on top of a less detailed object thingy right? kinda similar to a black & white bump where you are turning the texture into a normal map based on it right? so the normal map baking of 2 different objects stacked on top of each other is non relevant to this video right?

I am using blender 2.79. It's the one that my laptop can manage but when I try to bake the normal maps of procedural textures. It just creates a plane image

I followed your tutorial 1:1 but for some reason my normal map image is just one solid color. Any idea what could be causing this?

I feel like this is missing a huge step. What to do after with the normal map? Not like I can apply this to any other object, since any other object will have a different UV map than the one I used to create the normal map. So what then? apply the normal map back into the same object with the mesh, what's the point?

WHAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME IS THAT YOU ARE USING AN IMAGE TO GENERATE THIS AND NOT A 3d MODEL

just use materialize. takes seconds to make any maps you need from the color map.
