MIG Welding Settings and Techniques Tested - PrimeWeld MIG180

preview_player
Показать описание

In this video you will see an outside corner joint as well as a vertical uphill tee joint using the primeweld mig180 plugged into a 115volt 20 amp circuit.
Recommended settings on mig charts are intended for flat and horizontal fillet welds and are too hot for vertical uphill.
but just picking a setting for thinner metal and reducing wire speed gives you a pretty good starting point.

I can state with a good deal of confidence that the majority of YouTubers that started channels at the time you did, didn't look a whole lot better. As you said ya gotta start somewhere!

As an old man once told me, if you want to learn to swim, you have to get into the water.

Excellent video Jody. Thanks.

All this guy did was open his mouth for 60 seconds and I could tell he spoke with authority. I didn't have to see a weld or read a comment to know, although seeing that later confirmed my initial assessment. To be honest, most YouTube "gurus" don't make it more than 3 minutes before I fast forward or hit the back button and I don't even bother to comment. I have watched several of this guys videos start to finish.

There are just so many self-appointed experts on the web, I wish they would bother to do some research and learn their craft before they speak up. My hat is off to this man. He is knowledgeable, succinct and thorough. How refreshing.

Such good advice, the problem nowadays is that so many professionals showcase their amazing talents here or instagram and tiktok. Its kinda overwhelming to novice to achieve the results their peers are broadcasting. Just getting started doesn’t even mean theres an end goal. Thanks again for all arc shots and voice overs and whatever you start doing in the future.

I am forever trying to get that through my boys heads. Start and even if you can only afford 10 minutes a day it’s better than not starting at all. Once again great advice and yet another great video. Keep it up.

I started learning welding in 1988 as a high school student taking classes at our local occupational center where I earned my proficiency certificate in 1990. Seeing your early content inspired me to keep learning and improving my skills in 2010 by taking additional classes at our local junior college. I know a lot of people bad mouth classroom learning but for me I think it was best to bring out the best that I could do. Thank you sir.

I like your attitude. Do what you can, with what you got, and go from there. Now not only are you a great welder but a pretty damn good videographer & teacher as well. Congrats!

I like your videos. Back in the 70’s I worked in a job shop as a machinist which in those days meant we welded and I did. It was very fun yet that job found layoff in the early 80’s so I never had any job where I welded. A darn shame since I loved it as much as machining. I did in later years very much appreciated and worked well with welders doing give and take conditions. Neither welder nor machinist need do things on their own because they work together. I have been amazed that great welders have exceeded machinists really. Give or take there are many exceptions to that.
