This true, for cakes and bread if they aren't consumed in 2 days, they usually become dry (or stale). We can't add symple syrup for bread 😂. But for cake that need decorations and made a few days in advance, adding simple syrup make the cake stays moist a few days later 👍

Coming from someone who worked in a very popular bakery for several years, you'd have to be delusional if you think that every busy bakery out there does not simple syrup the heck out of their cakes! We went through so many cakes per day because we had so many orders that we often had to bake all of our cake a week ahead and freeze it so we had time to decorate them all before they were due. Cake definitely stays moist in the freezer, but when you are putting out 50 cakes a week, you got to do everything you can to make sure that cake doesn't dry out before it gets decorated and sent on its way!

I remember as a kid, whenever my mum baked a cake, she would use store bought apple juice to keep the cake moist. And it worked perfectly.

In Brazil we like the cakes almost dripping so simple syrup isn't scary for us

People who go on about moist have no idea that it's actually a technique to enhance a cake.. like make two cakes then syrup one and eat both a few days later and you will see the difference it's not even about moisture it enhances the texture and mouth feel.

I actually think that is a great idea. I was just wondering what it was made of and now I know!
If people would think of if they would see why and the fridge actually dries out baked goods. The way Mimo thaws out her cakes is he correct way to do it. She actually knows what she is doing .

Thank you! I watered my cake now I can stop stressing out. 😃
I made my waterering can from a canning jar and a zip lock bag. I need to find a salt 🧂 shaker or small watering can for next time.
