What is a Simple Syrup, and how it's made?
It takes some time to dissolve sugar in your cold coffee or iced drink. Simple syrup is the best way to sweeten any cold beverages.
It's the most uncomplicated syrup to make since it's just sugar (could be a demerara sugar) dissolved in water.
The easiest way to make it is to put In a saucepan 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar. For rich simple syrup, 2 cups of sugar and 1 water bring it to a boil, stir continuously until the sugar has fully dissolved. Pour in a separate bottle, and you can keep it in your refrigerator for up to a month.
Instead of simple syrup, a good substitute is agave syrup, Honey syrup, and Maple syrup.

I don't know anything or really care about alcohol or bartending but I love this man's voice

My understanding is that a 2-1 simple syrup mixture is shelf stable and doesn’t even need to be refrigerated.

Where do you get those bottles that you can pour into them from the bottom and screw it back on? That's genius

The thing I like about 2/1 syrup is that it's shelf stable basically indefinitely. I don't go through a ton, so it makes it easier on me.

You are hands down my favorite YouTube bartender. You don’t get all loud and over the top, instead you have a calm demeanor and explain things perfectly. Thank you for your helpful information and entertainment. 🍻

This is a common household practice in india, we call it ‘chasaari’, it is used in everything here instead of sugar it is made every month and stored in the fridge for up to a month

Ah, this will be useful for me unlike the other vids I've watched of you, because I make smoothies, I've had trouble getting a good sweetener, normal sugar doesn't dissolve well enough, and it's a bit of a pain to get out of the large container, honey adds a tad bit of flavor, but due to smoothies being cold, the honey really quickly solidifies, I think I'll just dissolve the sugar into water and add it like that, thanks

Hmmm I dissolve sugar, water, a taaspoon of vanilla extract, and a half teaspoon of honey.

Works well in coffee and tea.

"Maple syrup but that's the most expensive option"

Just to add that Agave syrup is extremely high in fructose, which makes it difficult for your body to break down (I realise the irony as these are alcoholic cocktails but it's good for people to know). Fructose is also sweeter tasting than standard table sugar, so if your cocktails taste sweeter even though you're putting in the same amount that's why.

Side note, based off personal trial and error. 1:make sure the bottle you use is STERILE . I boil my bottle for 5 minutes at least before adding a new batch. 2: the higher amount of sugar to water ratio you use, the longer (on average) it will last and the less you have to use per drink. I currently have a partial bottle of 5 month old simple syrup that I mixed at a 75/20 (sugar to water) ratio. It still looks good, smells good, and tastes good

If anyone is wondering, cold things doesn’t dissolve things well because the molecules of the liquid don’t have much energy to break brinda of the sugar, they molecules of the liquid are are also slower (which is why it’s cold), and they’re more compact with each other leaving no room for the sugar to be carried away and dissolved.

The fact that anyone can make this at home and use it for just day to day things like iced tea or something is amazing
