Depends on your usage. The Air is better if your ipad sits mostly on a desk while the Mini is for handheld use

i’ve been using the iPad Mini since launch and i love it, but it simply cannot do all the things other iPads can because of the size. I bought it to take notes and be a companion to my macbook, which it does really well. If you have to carry a macbook around like me, get the mini. the weight savings are very nice and your wallet will also thank you. If you are using it to draw, consume content, use word or office, get the air. Neither can replace a laptop, the air is just closer to doing so.

the mini is also a social media beast! if you're coming from editing/watching content on an iphone then the mini is a huge step up. editing tiktoks, instagram photos, youtube videos. creating youtube thumbnails - it can handle it all. this thing is perfect for social media, both for creators and consumers.

I would’ve preferred the larger screen of the iPad Air, but ordered the mini for the sole reason that it has the wide aspect option on the selfie camera. I teach guitar lessons online and belong able to fit the entire guitar into the frame with the wider cam makes teaching and recording tutorials so much easier!

The mini is by far the better option for portability. The air is great if you want something bigger but don’t want to invest or need the power of a Pro. I’m loving my mini for its size and the weight, I want to carry it everywhere!

A little bit of online shopping you can get the iPad Air 4 for $499 and Best Buy does a great job at price matching. This is why I went with the Air 4. Great comparison and a realistic one also. Too many people look at numbers and graphs but not for the uses.

This video is what I was looking for, telling it how it is. I was deciding between these two but when I saw the Apple iPad Air 4th gen, 256GB Wi-Fi, on sale for $549 at the Air Force Exchange, saving $200, it was a no-brainer and got it.

I’ll go for the iPad Mini for that “pocketable” size and the updated processor. This size is the perfect portable tablet for mobile gaming, watching content and browsing social media; an ultimate portable entertainment machine basically, whereas the 11’ and 12.9’ feel more like the professional work laptop replacements. I’m intending to use an iPad like an actual tablet, a bigger extension of the iPhone basically, and the new Mini with the A15 fits that description perfectly. Can’t wait for it to be available in stores here!

im not an ipad user but i think for students out there who are mainly wanting an ipad should go for the mini. mainly for taking notes and if you want to have some time editing, you also can edit pics on mini too unless ure an art student who need the sketching and drawing stuff. like i said, if you just want to take notes, id recommend to go for mini. save money, less weight and portable especially if u already have a laptop.

iPad Mini is probably more convenient to carry and use to just watch some content and reading the book. Keyboard is a definitely useful accessory, but it costs and weights, also it most comfortable to use when putting the device on the table so if one need a device with keyboard for daily use the full power of MacBook with less cost and less weight might be a better option (unless touch is needed).

It is also possible to have a combo of multiple devices.

I believe the mini is the one for me as I need it for video conferencing and note taking it is the size of my favourite A5 notebook, also it is perfect for reading books . I also love the way I can put it in my fanny bag.

Sometimes a smaller screen can actually be better.
Taking an exemple they used in the keynote, but which is really true, is for pilots for exemple. Many pilots (be it Boeing/Airbus professional pilots or small Cessna enjoyers) use tablets to plan their trip, have meteorological data… and you usually strap the tablet to your lap or somewhere in the small space you have in the cockpit, and having a smaller screen is really a huge plus. I’m talking about personal experience, but I’m sure there’s a lot of other domains where this os also true

There’s not much point in comparing these at face value because they are so similar apart from their size. It totally comes down to what you are using it for, there is no ‘wrong choice’ no matter what you decide to go with. Both are great devices! I got the iPad Air because I need the larger screen real estate for note taking, typing documents (hence I need it to be compatible with Smart Keyboards as this review stated) and I prefer the Air’s size for watching videos and general content consumption. If you plan to use it kind of like an extension to your iPhone and you don’t really need the larger screen or like a Kindle, then the mini is great! Just doesn’t fit into my reasons for needing an iPad.

I love my mini, but it’s just too small for any serious work. Definitely more of a consumer product, which is king of expected. I love travelling with the mini

The Mini displays the same amount of content as the Air on safari and apps. Pretty cool for a smaller display

the Center Stage tech on the Selfie-Camera is awesome. I love that on my Pro. For me, the one thing that would be the difference maker is the lack of a keyboard case for the Mini. I know they can't really make one because the keys would be way too small. I agree with you that the Magic Keyboard is the best accessory for the Air and Pro. Also, I'm willing to bet that USB-C is coming to the iPhone sooner than people may think because the EU is trying to put a law in place that would standardize USB-C for mobile devices .

I just bought a mini over the air for 1 main reason and that was the size, I mainly use it for content consumption. And that’s coming from a pro max user

I’m going to get the Mini 6 in November at Max 256gb storage. I know I won’t need that much storage for just two games, Divinity 2 and Xcom 2, but they both require 4GB ram. Another reason is that whatever future games that require 4GB ram or movies I want, I’ll have 216gb storage left for it.

I ordered the mini, planning on using for mental modeling and general productivity things like finance, scheduling, email, etc. Kind of want an ipad with a smart keyboard thing, but i’m really buying this because the small size is intriguing.
