The Nato military alliance has just received its first cutting-edge spy drones called Global Hawks.

They’ll help commanders on the ground identify potential threats to Nato members - with one single drone able to watch over a territory the size of Poland.

BBC defence correspondent Jonathan Beale has been given an exclusive look at the new unmanned aircraft.

If they're showing this, they probably have better tucked in their sleeves

The drone is 20 years old, not exactly "new".

Check on Flightradar24, FORTE12 has been doing loops over the Black Sea, probably watching over Ukraine.

Anyone else reminded about that graduation speech from the Simpsons?

“You’re job will be to build and maintain these robots.”

Idk why people are complaining, it only takes 2 kills with hardline to get this.

I gotta say, it doesnt give me a lot of confidence that their advanced drone control systems are based on the Windows operating system.

One of the reasons why they cost so much is that to protect the information and the programming capabilities they have laser hard drives. Yes, this means they typically have to be reprogrammed before each flight, but as this is not a new kind of system, even when guiding down an aircraft or seizing a ship, the only thing needed to protect all such data is that is erased with an electric on/off switch.

Cool toy. And fuelling them with liquified homeless people is a masterstroke!
