Live: NATO Secretary General Rutte and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy joint press conference

NATO Defence Ministers meet at NATO Headquarters in Brussels on Thursday and Friday (17-18 October 2024). For the first time, Defence Ministers from Australia, Japan, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea are joining a NATO Defence Ministers’ meeting. The Defence Ministers will meet with their Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov in the NATO-Ukraine Council on Thursday evening to discuss the battlefield situation and Ukraine’s most urgent needs. NATO Secretary General Rutte indicated that work is well on track both to set up the new NATO command in Wiesbaden to coordinate security assistance and training for Ukraine, and to deliver on the pledge of 40 billion euros in military aid for Ukraine. He announced that “NATO Allies provided 20.9 billion euros in military assistance to Ukraine during the first half of 2024 and Allies are on track to meet their commitments for the rest of the year”, adding that “the message is clear: NATO is delivering for Ukraine, and we will continue to do so.”

just as Houthis firing on U.S. merchant Ships in the Red Sea was an act of war against the U.S., helping Russia to fire missiles against Ukraine from Russian soil is /would be an act of War.

Reportedly, Kim Jong Un, himself, has said, he sent engineers and artillery brigade(s), five to ten thousand soldiers, to Russia to help in the fight against Ukraine. They don't need to be on Ulraine ian soil or send 10, 000 non-engineering soldiers to train Russians how to fire their KN-23 ballistic missile. In fact, they have no justification for even providing weapons to an aggressor.

Ukraine joining NATO during a war with Russia equals World war 3, if not nuclear war.
Ukraine and Georgia should have never listen to the promises of NATO back in 2008, when they declared both would join NATO, leaving Russia unable to defend itself as NATO bases appeared on the Russia-Ukraine border, less than three hundred miles from the centre of Moscow. I live in the UK, and it irks me to say that NATO has been the provocateur in this tragedy.

NATO needs to formally invite Ukraine NOW! It's long past time for this. As Zelenskyy said, Ukraine is already using NATO standards and weapons and their experience in war (unfortunately) will make them an extremely valuable member when they can actually become a member after their victory!
