FAQ's:
Q: What if I only have one RAM slot?
A: Then you would need to purchase another stick of good RAM to perform that test.

Q: My RAM is integrated into the motherboard.
A: If your RAM is build into the motherboard, then you wont be able to test for it separately. If its bad, then the motherboard is bad. Move on to the rest of the video. What was the result of the external monitor test?

Q: What if after all these steps my screen is still black?
A: If after all these tests your screen is still black and wont display to an external monitor, then you have identified the Motherboard as being the bad component. It will need to be replaced.

Q: None of the steps worked but my computer will display to an external monitor.
A: If the first series of tests do not identify the issue but your computer will display to an external display, then your looking at an LCD or LCD cable issue most likely. Try 'reseating' the cable first. Unplug it from the motherboard and the LCD. Then plug it in again. If that fails to correct the issue, replace the cable. If that fails to correct the issue, replace the LCD.

Should always start with removing/disconnecting the battery, as well as the power cord, and then holding the power button down for around 20 seconds to discharge the capacitors. Then put the battery and power cord back in and see if its fixed. This has worked for me on hundreds of laptops. I call this issue "stuck in sleep mode". Should always try this first

My guy, you saved my career. Sunday night today and I tried to update my ram. Tomorrow I am working and my PC wouldn't start. Stupid me, I had put my ram in incorrectly. BIG THANKS

Oh my God! I just opened (inside) my laptop and one of your tips worked! I am so thankful because I wasn't able to use mine for 10 months and it's functioning now. It takes too much courage to open a laptop without the help of a professional but it worth the risk. Thanks bro!

Thanks a lot. I have tried many suggestions before finally landing on yours, which solved my problem immediately. I even bought an HDMI cable to connect to another monitor, but unsuccessfully. Wished I had come across your posting sooner. Once again, thanks a lot.

This is helpful and thorough. Thanks.

I have a similar problem with my Asus laptop. The screen on restart SOMETIMES shows fine multicolored vertical stripes on a bluish background. The computer itself is working, based on the external monitor test. The thing is, the problem is intermittent. And when it happens, if I restart lots of times, the normal screen eventually comes back. Or, if I wait a little while, it restarts normally. I would think that would make the diagnosis that much more difficult. And I have to wait till it happens again to take to a repair shop.

Thank you so much for this video! I was able to fix my laptop. Didn’t know my RAM was the cause. I replaced my current RAM with my old stocks and it worked like a charm. ☺️
