I read a book about Rumple quite a few years ago. I liked it. I love Rumple from OUAT, but I agree that the Grimm fairytales are darker than the actual ones. The OUAT show was actually the first time I had ever heard of him, because growing up, that wasn't a fairytale I ever even heard about. When he appeared on OUAT, I had to do my search of who he was in fairytales.

I actually used to feel really bad for Rumpelstiltskin as a kid. He just wanted a child since he said "a living being means more to me than any piece of jewelry a king owns"

I really hope if Disney or Pixar ever decided to make a movie about him, that it would be about him finally getting to be a parent and be able to adopt a kid.

i used to love Rumplestiltskin as a child. i even did a book report on it in the first grade.
For some reason, i remember misspelling the word "poor" by writing "pour" and the little note that my teacher wrote on my report. i don't remember exactly what the note said, but i do remember feeling bad after reading it.
Years later, my mother told me that my first grade teacher didn't like me.
She loved my older sister though.
Anyway, Rumplestiltskin used to creep me out a little too.
Especially at the end, when he loses his temper.
It was funny and a little bit scary.

I grew up with a bunch of different versions, but 4 of them have stuck with me my whole life:
1: the storybook where he hops on a spoon and flies away at the end
2: the book "Rumpelstiltskin's Daughter" in which the farmer's daughter is like "i dont wanna marry the king, and you seem to have pretty chill ideas about parenting, why don't we just get married and have kids" and so on and so forth.
And the last 2 did in fact include the "Bad Endings."
3: HBO's Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child has the version where he starts screaming "THE DEVIL TOLD YOU THAT" and stomps so hard he falls into the earth
4: Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre has the version where he splits in half, albiet with a very poorly done 1980s camera editing trick.

when I was living in one of my old houses I was maybe like 5 or 6, but this house me and my family lived in was really haunted. me and my sister shared a room and our mom's room was connected to ours. I remember every night I would tell my mom I can't sleep because the old man won't stop watching me. and the only time I could sleep was when I went into my mom's room. there was always this negative energy in the house, so one day my mom had a friend come over.. she was like I don't know the word for it, but she was open to spirits and this particular day my mom's friend brought sage to our house and began to cleanse the house. starting from downstairs and as we reach our room...we went into our bathroom connected to our bedroom and that's when the bathroom door slammed shut by itself and hit my mom's friend in the arm the force of the door hit so hard she instantly had a bruise. that day was so scary for me. (we later found out that an old man DID live there but he overdose one day and he died) we later moved out. (i have so many stories from that house

I heard a very disturbing tale of Rumpelstiltskin that said that Rumpelstiltskin torn himself in half because of his anger.
