Khmer underappreciated globally. Long lasting regional empire that left behind some of greatest buildings ever made.

Proud to be a Manipuri (man.) kingdom/Kangleipak, shown at far left corner.
Need some research when it comes to Manipuri/Kangleipak kingdom coz we have the written record far from 1st century AD .
But appreciate the work 👍

As a Thai, I really wish we didn’t have to fight 🇱🇦🇻🇳 during the Cold War.
Laos? In cultural aspect, the closest one to Thailand; so close that we can speak our own languages and understand each other. Vietnam? How can you not root for this country that singlehandedly fought the French, U.S., and China; like a big brother of Indochina.. and I also have met some cool Vietnamese people in my lifetime - the most based Asians. But well... politics of Cold War greatly divided us (our government was scared shitless of Communism) and as for nowadays, toxic nationalists’ comments always stir hate.

I have written three novels The Kings of Angkor, The Kings of Ayutthaya and The King of the Toungoo Empire. Your animation was great! Thank you.

I was honestly rooting for Champa. They never became an empire, but they really hung in there...

Seeing this reminds me of some of the maps I found in a box in the library of my school. The teacher who owned them was retiring, and didn't have a place for them, so she was giving them away. One of the maps was from 1951 and labeled Vietnam as "Indochina Vietnam" since it was before it split into North and South Vietnam. It also only had one Korea on it and also had countries like Tibet and French Africa. It was pretty cool. I still have it now.

That's not Southeast Asia. Where is Phillipines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and East Timor?

Damn, Champa don't die.
They did eventually, but they were always so small and kept coming back against way bigger opponents.

Change the title to “Mainland Southeast Asia.” How about Maritime Southeast Asia?

My fav king in Burma's history ; King Bayintnaung of Taungoo Empire
Hes like Japan's Hideyoshi whose vassals' love and loyalty is only to him and not to the empire itself. It broke apart as soon as he died while preparing to march for Arakan. Kinda sad but it just shows his charisma.
