Love to our Thai cousins from India. Your nation and people are beautiful, kind, and decent. Keep doing what you're doing.

As a Thai, I really do appreciate this video. However, to clarify some small mistake, it's Taksin not Taskin. Phraya is a higher ranking noble title in Siamese aristrocratic hierarchy, equivalent to Marquess or so. His birth name is Sin and was the lord governer of Tak province prior to the fall of Ayutthaya Kingdom. Thus, he was commonly known as Phraya Tak (Lord of Tak). Even though later proclaimed king and had his official royal name, he is still dubbed as King Taksin (a combination of his former title and his birth name) until this day and primary history books always refer to him as King Taksin which is quite a special case since most of Siamese/Thai kings are always referred to by their more official names not their birth names. (tbh, I have learnt his royal name once but totally forgot about it. It's super lengthy and full of auspicious Bali-Sanskrit words. We Thais know him as King Taksin anyway)

Unfortunately, not so many people know how rich the history of Thailand is! There are so many important aspects that we couldn’t include in a 10-minute video. We know that we did not focus so much on the ancient period, the migration of people, the large influence from India, Buddhism, and the very important trade with Indian Kingdoms, China, and even the Roman Empire. Also, Thailand managed to preserve its kingdom and didn't become a colony. We would like to include more details about those parts of history in our future videos. Thank you so much for watching and for supporting us!

I'm a Malaysian and we studied Thai history in school though not in detail but enough to understand the overall. I'm surprised that King Bhumibol was not mentioned at all in this video. He was very well respected in this region and when he passed away there were a lot of Malaysians paid their last respect to him at the Golden Palace.

India has a massive influence in Thailand and SE Asia that was completely ignored in this video. The city/kingdom of Ayutthya is named after Ayodhya in India, the birthplace of Lord Ram. The king of Thailand is himself named after Lord Ram. He is traditionally consecrated from the water of the river Ganges. The emblem of Thailand is the white elephant Erawan, derived from Airavat, the vehicle of Lord Indra. Buddhism came from India as well. The Thai script is derived from Brahmi/Tamil script. A lot of the words used in everyday Thai come from Sanskrit as well. A half baked documentary to say the least.

One of the richest and most underrated histories in the world, overlooked by so many. But when you read into it and dive deeper it’s history is amazing.

You forgot to mention France extorted the heck out of Siam with gunboat diplomacy (they literally sailed ironclads into the Chao phraya river into Bangkok) and they had to pay a fortune to maintain their independence.

I live in Ayutthaya and can say many ancient temples survived the Burmese attack. The school I teach at in Ayutthaya is near many ancient temples, including Wat Mahathat, the temple that has the iconic Buddha face in a tree.

The founder of our dynasty in NE India was born in mong mao and his name was chaolung sukapha and we are known as Tai-ahoms in India. Love to the thais. We also have tribes like tai-phake, tai-khamti, tai-aiton, tai-khamyang, and many more. We also had people from Thailand, myanmar and mong mao gathered in Assam to form our internationel society back in 2017 and also few people from laos

The smartest thing that happened was the prime minister refusing to deliver the pact to the US. Saved their asses from getting destroyed. I love thailand. That country is amazing and full of wonderful people

I feel like this documentary missed out a big part of South Asian and Hindu/Buddhist influences in Thailand which had a big impact on the culture of Thailand. The modern Thai writing system is very similar to South Indian writing systems. The Khemer Empire was a Hindu/Buddhist Empire that used Sanskrit/Old Khemer.
