Who is team APSC and who’s FULLFRAME and why? 😊

I get that these lenses are new and all but they're really not that revolutionary. We've already had tons of APSC lens options for Sony for ages. The 15mm f1.4 is w/e since you've got the Sigma 16mm f1.4. The new 10-20 is also kind of meh, especially at f4, because you've already got the Tamron 11-20 f2.8 available. If the prices you mentioned are final I'd say these Sony lenses are nothing special, maybe the 11mm f1.8 is a bit different, but still. It's definitely not like they're the thing that's gonna "save" APSC, because it doesn't need saving. Regardless of what people online may say APSC is, and will continue being a perfectly usable platform for A LOT of people, especially Sony APSC.

I've had my camera for 10 years before I started considering an upgrade for obvious reasons. Yet I was always able to acomplish what I wanted using basic equipment. You don't need 300 different lenses and 50 different cameras. Do some research, get what you want then go out and get results. Before you know it, success will be there waiting for you to take.

I get that this is a review for new Sony lenses, and it’s great that they’re starting to invest in APS-C more, but it sounds like you’re not aware of just how broadly Fujifilm has covered APS-C cameras and lenses for years now, in a professional way. So when you talk about APS-C image quality not being as good as full frame, that may apply to Sony but it’s a different story with Fujifilm. It just feels funny to have been shooting Fuji for 7 years now and all of a sudden the YouTubers are like “wow APS-C!” once Sony does 1/5 of the work Fuji’s been doing the whole time.

Hey Matti sweet video! Just wanna let you know that the crop factor is actually 1.5x on Sonys APS-C cameras and not 1.6x like Canons.

I film all my camping trips for my Camping and Outdoors channel and I have been using the Sony a6400 for all my videos. The quality is decent, shoots 4K 24fps, the lenses are cheaper and lighter and my overall setup is nice and small which is perfect for when you are camping. These new lens look great! Thanks for the video.

APSC is a fantastic format for vlogging especially. For taking *photographs* I prefer a bigger sensor, but of course the weight and cost is a choice against the potential image quality.

There are already a bunch of great APS-C lenses for Sony cameras from Tamron and Sigma. And I'd personally prefer them over these ones from Sony. E.g. Tamron 11-20 f2.8 has much better value than Sony f4 10-20

I think it is funny that a while back they were comparing the iPhone 13 Pro with full frame cameras and “you could hardly see a difference” and now they tell you that the smaller APSC sensor (which is huge when compared to smartphones) doesn’t have the quality of these full frame sensors.. 🤣

This is the best advice for 95% of creators or regular consumers. Years back I've had A6500 with several lenses along with one of those first smaller zhiyun crane gimbals and that was the best travel setup. Spent a ton of cash to upgrade to full frame and on gmaster lenses and it became so cumbersome to shoot and travel with. Sometimes I just don't feel like using it because its too big to carry.

At least 4 mistakes/misinformation:
3:09 RF15-35mm is 3000 CANADIAN DOLLARS, not USD. it's 2400 USD.
4:21 APSC 1.6x crop is only for Canon, not Sony.
4:51 almost no S35 is 1.6x, most of them are even larger than 1.5x. the C70 is 1.374x, Alexas are even bigger. S35 is not equivalent to APSC and certainty not 1.6x.
8:04 a 15mm apsc is 22.5mm ish FF or 24mm on Canon, not 35mm

Camera YouTubers be like “You don’t need full frame, buy APSC!….

Who, me? No of course I’m not, FF all day for me obviously, I want it to look good”

Switched from Sony FF to Fujifilm APS-C and it would require something truly revolutionary to get me to go back.

These Sony apsc lenses are actually quite expensive and not much lighter compared to FF equivalent:
Canon RF 16 f/2.8 ($300) [170g]
Samyang 24 f/1.8 ($450) [230g]
Sony pz 16-35 f/4 ($1200) [380g]
Sigma 16-28 f/2.8 ($900) [450g]

And third-party options are a lot more price-competitive:
Tamron 11-20 f/2.8 ($800)
Samyang 12 f/2 ($350)
Sigma 16 f/1.4 ($400) or Viltrox 13 f/1.4 ($430)

I decided to get a A6400 a couple years ago and spend the money I saved on lenses instead. I'm still waiting on Sony to finally come out with a APSC camera with 10 bit, but until then I'm really happy with my choice.

Started with a Sony a6000. In April I "upgraded" to a Sony a7r IV. Love it, but I'm selling it! I backpack, hike, and that's mainly when I shoot. Just a hobbyist. I really miss the size. Not so much of the body, but the lenses are SO much smaller. As far as picture quality, I feel I got incredible shots with my old a6000.

I used canon and then Sony Super 35 sensors for years, then moved to a BMPCC 4K (and I forget I'm filming MFT). I've invested way more in lenses than bodies over the past couple of years and they make the image more than the camera. Next camera I get will be a fuly fledged cine cam (Like an URSA Mini Pro) and it too will be s35.

The much sort after full frame, shallow DOF look (seen all too often on youtube!) isn't actually a cinematic look (if you study how Hollywood etc film makers work). It has it's place, but it's not the be all end all - depth and separation is more important than short DOF . I can get the dreamy short DOF look with nice fast glass on my BMPCC 4K but most of the time I don't opt for it anyway.

For vlogging, S35 is more than enough - the thing that puts me off the sonys that have this s35 sensor (imcludg my own) is the shutter lag.

My line of cameras has been Sony RX100III, a6000, RX100V and now the a7iii. I’ve been thinking of moving to Fuji with the XT4 or Olympus with the EM1 iii. I’m on many sites Instagram, Facebook and Flickr and I’ve come to the conclusion that it really doesn’t matter what size sensor your packing. I’ve seen mediocre images taken with FF and exceptional images taken with M4/3. When it comes down to weight, cost and size then you truly start seeing the difference

Sigma also has an excellent assortment of Sony lenses specifically designed for APSC. The 30mm f/1.4 is one of my all time favorite lenses, period. The value proposition is dope.

I agree with all the points but I still love my full frame! I couldn't go back to my 6100 for everything. I love my A7IV and the A7C!
