Intuitive Eating and Diabetes

Hi!

In this video I discuss a few strategies to support regulating blood sugar (preventing elevated insulin, elevated glucose and diabetes) while still staying on course with healing your relationship with food.

Of course there is still so much more to say about this topic such as how to include trigger foods, movement, carb counting etc. so if you want more on this topic let me know.

In the meantime, I hope you find this helpful,
♥️Eve

*Of course this does not replace going to a doctor and getting treatment if you have or suspect you have a health challenge.

I appreciate all of the great recommendations here, and the fact that you are blending approaches. I've been doing a really deep dive on all of this since I gave up dieting about 10 months ago. I found Intuitive Eating, but I also have to modify it. The psychological and sociological foundations of it are true, in my opinion. Restriction can very often lead to cravings and bingeing. But, what has also been shown in a number of studies over decades is that all foods are not the same. From so much of what I've read, one calorie is not the same as another calorie, the body metabolizes calories from different sources differently (or at different rates). This holds true for me - refined sugars are best for me to limit, including simple carbs in bread, etc. My body doesn't do well on them, I believe they screw up my insulin sensitivity and my endocrine and adrenal metabolic signaling (leptin, grehlin, etc). And there are sure plenty of studies which indicate that the increase in sugar in so many (highly processed) foods is implicated in the rise in metabolic disorders, particularly type II diabetes. I wish some of the major promoters of IE would take a more nuanced approach, like you're doing here. Thanks!

Diabetes is a complex disease owing to its types, insidious nature, long term compliance, etc. But this video will truely help any person find sanity around living with this dis-ease. Unconditional kindness is a way to proceed on difficult ways of life. As you have mentioned, medical care is non negotiable so should be adopted sincerely . Thankyou for this video. 💜

I have BAD genetics and despite being thin, active, and a mostly whole food vegan, I am now trying to stop my body from becoming diabetic. My blood sugar numbers are creeping up. In desperation I recently went back to trying the very high carb, very low fat path, which made my sugar go up more. Then I tried vegan keto and felt HORRID…not remotely sustainable. It’s very frustrating as I do want food freedom. Normally I can tell the difference between my blood sugar being too low vs. too high, but sometimes my body does trick me. Glucose meters can save you.
