Looks like we've finally hit that point where an era realizes how corny something is and adjusts itself accordingly. The "Video Essay" format today is essentially what the "Angry Reviewer" format boom was in the late 2000s - early 2010s when countless reviewers were trying to be the next AVGN. You didn't notice how corny it was at the time until hindsight and parody kicked in.
