You know what else is killing businesses:
- Rampant Crime
- Theft
- Lack of prosecution
- Lack of policing
- People not wanting to spend their money because they don't want to ride public transit because it's not safe, clean, or comfortable

The "goal" is to keep bureaucracy alive, not protect anyone.

Classic SF living in a theoretical world rather than reality

Politicians here in CA are so dumb. They did one of these center bike paths near me & no one uses it. It’s called “the bike path to nowhere”. It cost 7 million dollars.

Watching from the Netherlands, I suggest that SF consult Dutch city planners who are adept at designing good streets.

So basically everybody hates the bike lanes. The cyclists don't like it because it's really not safe. The drivers hate it because it takes away parking spaces. And the businesses hate it because the parking spaces are reduced and center bike lanes don't encourage bicyclists to slow down and go to the businesses either. So basically, it's hard for cyclists to access the stores, hard for drivers to access, and backs up Muni service on the street. Great job SFMTA!

Either fully pedestrianize Valencia St or install side bike lanes like any logical transportation department (it actually encourages *bicyclists* to go to the stores so the net benefits for business is equal, if not more than parking spaces lost).

I don't understand why the Bikers have such a big voice in this City. Parking is bad enough without bikers taking up more parking spaces. These bike owners should be paying taxes for their bike lanes. Its safe to assume most are not home owners who pay property taxes to support their dangerous driving habits. Its hard to drive and walk thru this City for fear of running into a biker.

Replacing street side parking with bike lanes usually increases foot traffic and benefits business along the streets... but this design actually blocks the cyclists from stopping at the stores and restaurants, and puts both cyclists and pedestrians closer to car traffic than they were before. Who designed this thing? The Stellantis marketing department?

No parking spaces we removed, but they were replaced with loading zones so all the uber eats pickups stop parking in the bike lane

There is a 353 car parking garage at 21st Street, and a 107 car garage at 16th Street, together equivalent to 10+ blocks of street parking. (The bikeway is 8 blocks long, and Valencia thru the Mission is 13 blocks long)

SFMTA did a survey of shoppers on Valencia in 2018 - 70% of shoppers get to Valencia by walking, biking, or riding public transit, meaning 30% drive or ride-hail. Shoppers who bike to Valencia spent on average $2, 943 MORE per year at Valencia shops than those who drive or ride-hail.

It’s as if the people of SF haven’t heard about what the UK is doing restricting cars.
City zones reducing car access in the West.

Wow, SF is really doing everything possible to shoot itself in the foot. Hilarious.

On purpose is to getting rid of small businesses period because bike lanes are installed in every cities so is breaking into small businesses non stop as giving up operating slowly

Does City Hall work 24/7 on driving businesses OUT of SF? Looks like the City budget is quickly heading to Net-Zero.

Removing Parking makes it inconvenient to drive helping to reduce traffic in the city, moving closer to the goal of a car free city.

If the city does make a change it won't be because of the drivers inconvenience or the business's lost customers, it will be because of the safety of the bike riders.

Bikers need to start being taxed dude. A lot of money and infrastructure is spent on these people and they don’t contribute a dime, everyone else does. I don’t ride a bikes on public streets but I pay for it. I’m sick of it.

In the 80’s we walked, only the bridge and tunnel crowd drove and we didn’t like them.. In my 80’s SF this situation is not a problem.

That bike lane is a death trap. Have fun trying to turn left into and out of it when the cars have no room to navigate.

Car owners are taxed at the pump to pay for roads and bike lanes.. How are bicyclists taxed for bike lanes? Just wondering.

That's so BS. The bike lane is in the middle. Ain't nobody need to drive onto Valencia to shop or eat.
