You should put the Nut on the anchor bolt before using your hammer to drive the anchor in putting you hammer blows on the nut and not the threads.

I built decks for years. Anchors were imbedded when the concrete was wet.

In my opinion, a notched post for the joist to cradle in is a lot more support than just nailing to the post. Overcrowded decks have proven this in the past.

Resin anchors are the best fixing. The larger hole is a slight issue but the resin bonds the bolt into the concrete with zero stress.

Definitely use carriage bolts through the post😊

You must be kidding, the deck should set on top of the support post. You must not have code enforcement in your town.

Finally, a deck builder that actually gets the post solidly on the concrete pad without it hanging over the edge. Thought I'd never see this in my life time.😉😆🤔😎

Very curious here. It looks like the deck is now supported by 4-6 screws or nails. Shouldn’t the 4x4 be notched so the deck can rest on that instead? Just a question here.

Never beat the Hilti bolt directly, if you mess with the threads you’re screwed. Put the nut on first and then a scrap piece of wood. Beat it into position and remove nut and install.

Always put a nut on the bolt flush when hammering first

I don’t use wood for support posts, I use round steel structural columns with base plates welded to the top and bottom.

I’m no Bob the builder here. But I’m %98 sure this deck won’t be up for long.

And this is why Jose, Jesus, Francisco, Miguelito y Miguelon take over your job.

That's the first time I've ever seen somebody use an SDS who didn't throw away the depth gauge lmao.

Fine post/foundation connection, but just a few nails are inadequate to transfer load from the edge beam/joist/deck to the post! Notching post for bearing or bolts are needed.

Does not meet code in our area. Deck frame must rest directly on support post. A few nails don't cut it.

Cut a ledger notch into the 4 x 4 for the 2 x 8 to rest on

I personally notch the 4x4 to accept the band material so the wood is supporting the deck not the nails!

I am learning. Deck screws or Deck nails? Wood warps...which is better?

The powder coming out of that drill hole looks like the concrete wasn't even mixed properly looks like you threw the bag in with some water on top. That usually means it will crumble in time
