Easiest way to identify a fake Marine is to ask what their favorite crayon is. If they reply with a color, they’re a phony. If they respond with a flavor, they’re legit.

I served as a Milkshake Gunner with MEAL Team 2 during the Gulf War. French fries were in short supply but we made do with what we could. I was awarded the Ronald McDonald Medal of Honor after I rescued my buddy from the effects of a bio-chemical explosion in the restroom. Difficult but memorable times.

He got his DD214, I was next in line so I have a DD215 and my other buddy was behind me in line and got the DD216. We ran into each in Boston again when we were drafted by the Patriots and won the Superbowl.
