Axel the axolotl.
If you are going to put substrate in please use fine silica sand as they can digest it, gravel is a big no as it can block them up and cause death. Definitely need loads of hides and a tank chiller as they like colder water. They also prefer darker spaces. Make sure you also stock up on some IAL (indian almond leaves), methylene blue and a big tub you can put them in if they get sick or injured.

Best substrate for Axolotl is a fine sand as it passes right through their system should they ingest it. The tank should also have several hiding spaces like pipes, bogwood, and caves. If you want plants, you should stick with floating plants and plants attached to the decor as they can and will dig up any plant you put in the substrate.

An axolotl needs a 20 gallon tank minimum. You also need a chiller due to living in florida. Axolotls like cold water 65-66 degrees. I’d also look into getting some hides so they aren’t stressed out. They are actually more high maintenance than people think. Congrats on your little guy.

Hey man it's really important to get a chiller for them. They need to be kept at 55-64 degrees and I can promise you that water temp in your house in south Florida is not 64 degrees. That's the only thing that sucks about keeping axolotls in warmer climates. Chillers ain't cheap. Hopefully you already got one.

Congrats on the wedding first off!!! 🎉❤ but on the topic of axolotls'... it was like 15yrs ago give or take when I seen a documentary on them and how up until then, they were thought to be extinct and were recently rediscovered and ever since then.... they've blown right up and for obvious reasons!!!! They're cool af!!!

Feed them blood worms and earthworms, they like them and they are semi/fully aquatic so they are easy to feed to them unlike crickets. This is very important because yours kinda looks a bit skinny so make sure you feed it 2-3 days per week!

I think that a good name for the albino axolotl is sunlight and if you get the jet black axolotl you should name him moonlight. I think those are really awesome names for your axolotls!
