What Controller do you use in Fortnite?

Great tips thanks. I use standard PS4 controller (can’t get extra paddles in my country) and there just aren’t enough buttons. I’ve tried many binds but each is a compromise. In the heat of a fight, anything I put on the L/R sticks press themselves gets accidentally activated which usually got me killed (such as ADS, jump -ruined my aim by accidentally jumping, crouch -same, sprint - puts weapon away, next/previous weapon etc). The only thing I have on the stick now is ‘place marker’ which is harmless if activated in a fight. I have jump on L1 and switch mode/edit on R1. All buttons are less than ideal. I have to take right thumb off stick to swap weapons. A compromise I just live with but it does sometimes get me killed. I wish Fortnite would allow you to use a button like a shift key on a computer therefore giving each button multiple uses. I would also like to be able to save 2 custom settings: one for build mode and one for zero build mode.

I’m using a elite 2 for xbox, I couldn’t quite grasp the claw method. I have noticed a significant improvement in my play.

i play no claw no paddles right now, i plan on getting paddles at some point. but if you play with ps4 controller, i would use left stick for switch mode and touchpad edit, works well for me. if you're on ps5 controller the same but its a little harder to press the touchpad. i use circle for crouch and x for pickaxe. my jump is my right stick.

Somebody should come out with a foot pedal for controller players. With maybe 3 buttons on it. Could be used for jumping and switching weapons maybe.

I'm currently on a PS4 pro. I feel like sometimes my aim assist is off, I get melted way too quickly and/or my lobby is filled with a bunch of sweats. Some times this is due to skill based matchmaking. Though, I do play with someone in California and I'm in Florida. It really takes the fun out of the game for me. When I'm constantly going against sweaty people every lobby. I wanted to know your thoughts about this. Once again great content. I appreciate the fact you don't act like a cornball in your streams or videos. Not everybody is 4 years old that plays fortnite. Thank you, again for that. Keep up the Great work.

I use an X Box controller and I kinda hate it. the buttons are pretty close and I end up fat fingering and jumping when I want to build/edit, and vice versa. When I play on my switch I have the Nintendo pro controller and I really like that one.

The only real thing Id add is that the boosts arent necessarily "random", they happen when you are at max input on your stick. This doesnt make your point any less valid, for most of us on controller have a hard time thinking about everything in game, so adding having to always think about how much you move the stick is hard at first. Ita the most unfortunate thing, but i must take a moment to personally thank EvolveJake, because he broke this habit for me by mentioning its effect on players. Even in everyday life this happens. When you try something new there will always be a learning curve, and it varies from person to person. I started challenging myself to change my binds, and it made me improve so much faster. It actually made me switch to mouse and key, but for mainly financial reasons. I think the main thing with any shooter, but especially Fortnite, is that a mouse and key player never takes their hand off the mouse in a fight. Any way a controller player can adjust thier binds to keep that thumb on the right stick is going to help them so much. I cant stress enough how important it is to not give up because its a struggle at first. I promise if you push through that inner doubt, you will become better at anything you want to learn! Huge thanks to Jake for helping me learn this lesson!
