You can also do 1 watt per litre. It seems to be better overall for the longevity of the heater and the precision of the water temp!

I'm still told by pet stores in my area, Pet Valu and Pet Smart (Canada), that you don't need a heater, a filter or a cycled tank! It boggles my mind!

I use the Top Fin betta aquarium Heater in all 3 of my 2.5 gallon tanks they keep the water a constant 79-80 degrees (depending on how hot my room is). It says its 20watts but it says for up to 2.5 gallon so Im not sure if the tank size rating is off for marketing purposes or the watts are off. I did use the aqeuon 10w heater in one of my tanks but noticed the water either sat at 74 or went up past 80 even though it was suppose to be "pre set" so I ended up switching to the top fin in there as well

I got a mediocre heater and plugged it in. It worked for about a week before over heating to over 85°F. If I hadn’t caught it in time all the fish in my 20 would have died.

My Bettas fish is in an 65 gallons commuity tank. This tank have 6 Bettas (female), 7 Black Tetras, 6 Austranlian Rainbowfishs, 6 Zebra Danios, 6 Rio Tetras and common Pleco. The tank temperature is typical at 76 degrees F. The community tank is a very active fish tank. 🐠🐠🐠🐠

I am against keeping even female betta fish together.

I always advise it, their diet is 75-90% protein and a heater keeps their metabolism up enough to process that. Also their immune system just dont do well in cool water
