This was really great. This is the first time I've setup a VPN, and you made it clear and understand what I was supposed to do, why I was doing it, and the purpose behind each configuration step we went through. Thanks for your videos. I'm having a lot of fun setting up a 2019 server so practice with for self learning.

Hi Robert. Thanks alot for your video, it really helped me to set up my VPN and it's working just fine now! I was having some dificulties in acessing the data on the server but I've finnally figured it out (just some bad configurations and lack of knowledgment, lol). Somebody asked before if is it possible to have RDP running trough this PPPT VPN an the answer is yes, I use it to access the server from home, the only difference I see between my configuration and the one on the video is that I configured manually a range of IPs instead of having the DHCP server assigning them (in a different subnet, something like 10.x.x.1 to 10.x.x.20). Just keep in mind that when running Remote Desktop you must use the server IP from the VPN range (by default the first IP is the one assigned to the server). Cheers!

So, I know this is an older video, but any ideas how to solve the GRE error that I get when connecting from remote? Port 1723 is open and windows firewall is allowing it and GRE on both ends and the 1723 port is forwarded to the internal address of the VPN server. Still receive the GRE is not configured error when attempting to connect on a Windows 10 PC

Hi! Thanks a lot! Will I be able to connect to VPN server from an Android device or a router that supports PPTP VPN? Or is it for windows clients only?

Hi Rob i think youre the only person who understands the settings out of all the wallthroughs and wizards i have attempted. my p2p connection did connect buy failed at the username and password stage. Error said common cause was GRE. (i have disabled firewall on my router and my pc and i have port forwarded 1701 1723 500 4500 and 50 to my windows 2019 DC and still no connection) do you have any ideas? also if i need to 'unforward' any of these ports then please let me know too

Hi Robert. I created my VPN with a Server on premises. I can certainly connect to the Server through the VPN, I was expecting an IP address from the DHCP scope, but instead I get an IP address :169.254.218.7. Any ideas you can share to solve the issue ? thanks in advance.

It’s very reliable for our organization, but PPTP has a serious security vulnerability.
