How to Make a GOOD Confession (Most Catholics Get This Wrong)

Are you making a valid confession… or just going through the motions?
In this follow-up to our popular video "How to Make a Good Confession", Ken sits down again with Fr. Cristino to dive deeper into one of the most misunderstood sacraments. Many Catholics have never been taught how to make a clear, complete, and contrite confession — and in this conversation, we break down the common mistakes that can affect the grace and healing we receive.

📺 Watch the original video here: Confession Revealed

🔍 In this video, you'll learn:
➡️ The 4 C’s of Confession (and the forgotten 5th)
➡️ What actually makes a confession invalid
➡️ Why sadness isn’t the same as sorrow or contrition
➡️ How to distinguish mortal vs. venial sin
➡️ Whether forgotten sins still need to be confessed
➡️ How to find healing from shame after confession
➡️ Why “private sin” is never truly private

💬 Have a question about confession, shame, or contrition? Drop it in the comments — we’d love to do a Part 3.

I am an old woman, a widow, and have a hard time thinking of my sins but use an examination list of the Ten Commandments and all that goes along with each commandment, and oh boy I do make a list, I go once a month and am trying very hard to be holy as that is what my Jesus wants of me and all of us, do the best you can because your goal is Heaven ❤

Dear Ken, Janelle and Father. I listen to you from Italy and in absence of a spiritual director I truely find your chanel of great help. Thank you so much. Could you consider a talk on spiritual and physical sloth. Perhaps a program on each of the deadly sins, how to recognise them and confront them (remedies) . God bless all involved in the chanel and your wonderful family.

I remember praying for the souls in purgatory, growing up. But then, this seemed to go out of practice - i didn't hear it spoken about by priests or other Catholics. I was so to see the revival of this practice in the last few years!! Praise be to God!

Thank you so much for this video, something that really stood out to me was having contrition and then falling back into that sin. I was relived to hear that it doesn’t take away from my true contrition I had in the past during confession. Confession heals! And true contrition keeps you away from sin! I fell many times, but with each time the period of time was longer and longer. Glory be to God. I am free of this sin & am to be married may 14th of 2025! Pray for me and my soon to be husband.

I would live to listen to another video with you two on this. Never realized what a blessing this sacrament is and how I have neglected it. Thank you so much.❤❤

Thank you Fr.Cristino & Ken, this teaching has been very helpful about confession. Sometimes I take a list cause I can forget some sin, it's been very helpful. God bless you both 🙏 🙏🙏🕊✝️

There's a Excellent Examination of Conscience written by Fr. Robert Altier. My husband and I purchased enough to pass them out at all Masses a few years back. Highly recommend.
Great podcast! 🙏🤲🙏💕💗

I keep meaning to devote a Saturday to going round several Catholic churches in my diocese with confession lists...where nobody knows my voice, then going to evening mass at my own church, pure as the driven snow.

Thank you, Ken & Father Cristino. I like to bring a list to Confession because it helps me to remember my sins since I last confessed. Then there's the great feeling of ripping up my tangible sins (the list!) and throwing them in the bin. It's true what Fr Cristino said about it keeping the line moving; having a list helps me to stay on track instead of drawing it out by relying on my memory. I'd be lost without a list now, and recommend it to others😊. Oh, and I ask Padre Pio for his help as I wait in line.

In-between when I started this video and this morning as I finish it, I went to confession. Thank you Father for your wisdom. It helped me greatly as I confessed my sins 2 days ago. Thank you also Ken for involving Father in your videos. May your 2nd half of Lent be even more spiritual than the 1st. ❤🙏🏽💝
