If you are watching this and are about to change your starter, just know that you do NOT have to take out the air filter box if you don't want to. You can just remove the battery and both plates underneath it and you should be able to get to the starter under the filter box. It'll save you like 45 minutes of work.

This video is a very good and professional method, but other videos on this exact same car show people doing it without removing the air filter box,

This video was amazing! My RAV4 starter went out this morning. I ordered a new one from our local auto shop with same-day delivery. My husband wanted my car towed to a mechanic or contact a mobile mechanic. After watching your video at my daughter's guitar lessons, I replaced it. Once we got home via ride share, I got straight to work. After about an hour and a half (I kept misplacing my tools and had to grab a step stool because I was short), my car was back up and running. It was worth the amount of grease I got all over myself.

Girlfriends car literally died yesterday and wouldn’t start . After tapping on the starter I was able to avoid abandoning the car for the night, now I’m replacing it at the moment and I have to say this video timing was right on cue
