I have a "customer" that calls me weekly to do things just like this. I've done so many fans, lights, plumbing and HVAC filters. Just think of the money! The best part about all those jobs, I don't even have to leave home! 🤣

Only lesson I learned from this video, I'm not charging nearly enough, FML.

Amazing that he says 45 minutes to do those jobs, somehow this always takes me hours and unanticipated surprises

Thank you for acknowledging that it’s not an issue of laziness or incompetence. Some people value their free time differently. A lot of tasks for some people are on the “I just don’t want to do this…” list. If someone else can earn a living accommodating those folks, it’s win-win.

You do what most “handymen” don’t do. You test your installation to make sure it works as it should. I am a building operations supervisor for a fortune 100 company. I teach my technicians to take before, during, after pictures, and a short video of the item working. I have them upload it all to a work order as backup to the work. But most importantly they are to test the item for proper functionality.

So, you're basically completing other people's honey-do list. You've found a good niche!

I have to say in all THIS upload is the best of the hundreds I’ve watched so far.
This is what I needed to see to keep me motivated. Three different tasks, with a general price included, and instructions to boot.
I think this is what we need more of. Great job.

my time is too valuable to me, to be fixing certain things. especially when it s gonna take me more than 2 hours. that's why there are guys like you out there. we all need each other. no matter what. blue collar, white collar, no collar 😉😁

Im also in the "home improvement" business since 2003. I work with one guy. We do full remodels too and exterior house painting etc. Business is and has always been pretty good. Once people find someone reliable/trustworthy theyre clients for "life". Referrals are earned and guarantee more work to come. I left automotive tooling design and CNC machining jobs behind (1992-2002.) Setting your own hours is the best part with variety of work a close second.

I've been following both channels for a few months now getting inspired more and more each time I watch a new video. I'm always doing a project or helping out someone at their home for free. Last week I said no more free work, I worked through the weekend and made $800 for about 12hrs of work. The work is out there people, get after it!

Handyman you make me want to go to work after work. I'm a millennial but have always had multiple jobs. We just had a bad hurricane down here in South Louisiana so the work is endless down here right now. Thanks for the motivation to keep going strong

Well done!! I also, do the handyman thing, along with a regular job. There is SOOOO much $$$ to be made, and I will take all the crumbs that no others want to do. Word of mouth is AWSOME!! Keep the vids coming!!

I work a white collar job, make great money, but I wasn’t raised to pay people to do that kind of work. More power to you for getting paid.

Happy to see you using ceiling fan braces. You might be surprised how many fly-by-nights put their clients in danger by skipping that step.

In my area, Atlanta and surrounding counties, I make about 15% less then what the Handyman does. That is because I, like him, have regular and consistent clients. I could charge more but choose not to die to repeat business. Handyman don't leave anymore multitools in the ceiling, lol ;) That was awhile back

Several years ago I valued my free time at about $200 per hour, so if I can hire a professional to do a task cheaper than that then that’s what I do. Life has gotten much better since then.

There’s definitely something to be said about being the person who shows up for the estimate and the work. My customers all have commented on how nice it is to deal with one person. Not having to deal with a sales person, then someone to come out and measure and order parts and then another person to install goes a long way with people being willing to pay more. And I always welcome customers calling electricians or plumbers for these types of fixes. When you get a $250.00 bill just for them to walk through the door, $350.00 for a ceiling fan is cheap! Keep up the great work!!

$150. for a new flapper and handle? If I ripped off my customers like that I’d be rich by now.
