As a dubstep producer that has a pathological need to use crunchy sub's, here's my process. Take sine, take saw, take white noise. Play all the the same time and adjust the volume till the white noise and saw just provide the crunch and the sine provides the low end. Then put pitch drop envelope. Put distortion, then multiband compression, then volume compression, eqs and more distortion. Finally, parallel process the top end with eq, dispersers and even reverb for a more spread out feel, and put the low end to mono. Tada, the crunchiest sub you'll ever hear
