Finally got some new things up on the store over the week.
*Keep an eye out on the YouTube community tab over the next few days as I will be looking for some input from my viewers as I plan to make some changes to my content and possibly upload schedule.*

4:10 i love that little grunt you made, pull tabs are useless when the adhesive needs 3 megatons of force to remove

Jerry: "Scratches at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7."
Mehdi: "FULL-BRIDGE RECTIFIER!"
Hugh: "And we are done."

For a second there, I thought Apple kidnapped Hugh and is holding him hostage (because of delay in uploading this video). 😂

What’s crazy is all these phone companies can use a nice clamp that sits over the battery and utilizes the other screw spots. I don’t see the need for any adhesive. Just need a nice cushion so the battery doesn’t shake around.

Glad to see phone design turning towards repairability. Battery pull tabs, modular parts, removable rear glass glue. Needs some tweaking, but we're getting there.👍🏽🖖🏽

Im still using near 10 years old Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 with Android 6.0.1, you're not alone using old device.
Can't believe it's still usable today (except some apps cant no longer support older versions)

This is what I love about android, the repairability, only a single screwdriver to remove all the internals. No matter how easy iPhones's displays are easily replaceable, but I'll still take the android route since android phones have less parts to work on

I think the strong adhesive on the battery softens out with the time. You have to remember you are removing a brand new phone, with a brand new battery. With the vapor chamber being attached to the battery too, it will transfer head along the adhesive, so I think it so minimize battery movement on the near future, and also minimize battery incidents (aka note 7)

Edit: Well, to everyone, thats why I started with "I think", thanks for the explanations and personal experiences

im currently repairing a galaxy A20 And Man that battery is held with serious adhesive looks like it never changes after the first Samsung model without a removeable battery.

Engineers, why is a glass sandwich the optimum construction for an object you hold 3-6 feet above concrete?

I actually like the iPhonesque look of the S24 and S24+. I've always liked the look and in-hand feel of the modern iPhones so to have an Android option that feels the same way in-hand is a plus for me.

So thankful for your videos man! I replaced my wife's screen, daughter board and front camera last year (s21) then sold it for $$$ then bought her a new phone. My daughter board recently died, so i just repkaced the daughter board for $40. Took me 15 mintues. Really happy these videos exists!

Running android 9 here.
I think the Galaxy S8 and S9 are the best looking phones Samsung ever made, with the very thin frame at the side that curves out a bit at both ends.
They are a bit slippery to hold though without case. (and tech wise pretty much outdated, although they have USB-C, Qi charging, a good oled screen, reasonable memory, wifi 5, NFC, gyro sensor etc. Pretty good for a phone that is now almost 7 years old (the S8 that is)

no, Hugh, you are not alone! i daily drive a Google Nexus 6P since 2021. albeit lacking performance in some scenarios i found it to be plenty powerful for many other tasks, such as watching YouTube and sending texts. you know, the usual. granted, i have some gripes about it, but its still an amazing handset on its own right. Android 8.1 still kicking in 2024!

I like that they rate it for 4000mAh but the battery says 3880mAh on it lmao

I'm still on a lightweight android 5 for my very old google nexus 7 tablet. I use it as an of e-reader and it works fine. Cost me $10

That seems just about right to me. Easy to repair, yet still being modular and also not needing 4 different types of screw. You also don't need to remove microscopic bits and pieces to do a housing replacement.
Now I'm wondering what the S24 Ultra is like, given that the S24 Ultra is being heavily advertised in the UK market.
