It should be reminded that nukes are not as expensive as people make them out to be (it costs 75 hundred USD (₽600k) to maintain one W80 warhead each, for example). Before the war, modern Russia had an economy bigger than Japan's, and their military got huge honors, which further saved them funds. If an extremely poor country like India can afford several nukes, then so can Russia, and Russian nukes are more destructive and way better maintained than those of NATO.

Given this state of affairs, there are myriad reasons to believe that they could afford to surpass US nuclear parity in quantity and quality. It is certain that they possess more than what they claim to have, and there's also a guarantee that all Russian nukes will 100% work given their likely superiority and careful maintenance.

In such a scenario, in any all-out exchange, Russia could emerge fairly intact, while NATO would be wiped off the face of the earth as well as being obliterated.

Nuclear Winter would only affect the planet surface. I'm starting to understand why there's all these massive tunnel/bunker networks and systems being built world wide.
