Sad that we have to spend such huge resources on devices we hope to never use.

Kind of a dumb idea. If our stockpile is old and “unreliable” just imagine how bad Russia’s is. It’s my theory Russia won’t use theirs knowing they don’t work.

If Russia can’t even maintain their armor, you think their nukes are nearly as prepared as ours? 😂😂😂

my 50 years old nuke never failed me . regular testing was scheduled to once a week .
i felt it even more explosive and packed with a more bigger yield of warhead through these years .

Go with the Sentinel program while increasing Sub-based missiles with 10 MIRVS each. The bombers are sitting ducks from a close sub launch. While i dont like the idea of nuclear war, the others are increasing while y'all want us to decrease. They aren't going away.

a few things..
1.) The nice thing about land based ICBMs is you are not limited in size compared to Air or Sea based systems. Meaning, and something that should be look at, you go a lot bigger on warheads, the number of warheads per missile, or even both.

2.) This upgrade program can be stretched out over time meaning it may cost hundreds of billions of dollars but if you stretch that out over, lets say 20 years. It becomes a lot smaller per year and much more manageable.

3.) its not just the missiles that are aging out but also the bunkers themselves as well. I've lost count of how many times I heard that a Nuclear missile bunker has had to be shut down so they could do repairs and it's becoming more common. I would suggest that all current bunkers be slowly decommissioned, dug up and replaced with newer, bigger, deeper, more upgradable bunkers that are capable of housing larger missiles. That last part is just future proofing, you don't need to put in a larger missile in the silo but it's nice to have if we ever need to, which I hope we don't.

4.) you can still have a digital system while still being isolated by simply making sure there is no connection to capable of connecting to the internet for the launch system. And, yes, you can run a dual system, one for communication to outside world and one for operation of the launch system. Through I highly suggest putting a concrete wall in-between the two because of, uh, 1.) never underestimate the stupidity/laziness of the common grunt and 2.) never underestimate of the level of incompetence that a officer can reach.

Why do we let weirdos who want nuclear war share the same oxygen as us

I once read how much it costs to maintain a nuclear stockpile. I was amazed by the amount.

America: improvements to welfare, healthcare, wages? nah
300B dollar nuclear weapon project? yes

The U.S recently invested 7-10B in modernization and ICBM upgrades lol how much more do they need?

Also why buy carbon casings and a bunch of other bells and whistles to replace “dumb” cheap systems that you hopefully never use. The budget should be less than 1/4 than what’s proposed.

Wake up call to “The Military Show” the US has already upgraded its nuclear arsenal to include supersonic rockets. Where have you been?

Id thought by now that either the usa or uk or nato wouldve crossed over two types of technology which could give us an edge over any enemies
For example use the tech from the nuclear programs and cross it over into the rail gun programs and hey presto a faster than light fusion cannon thatd be a game changer you could use its waste energy to power a particle sheild (maybe) as a defensive measure

Colin Powell says they are obsolete. So, there is that. It may be wasteful to be investing in nuclear weapons altogether, especially new capabilities.

70% of our nuclear weapons are on submarines. Enough said.
