I love how the more distraught the purple IceWing becomes, the more scribbled and uncanny the lyrics and images become. I would love to know more about these characters and what happened. Seriously, you have a talent for showing and not telling!! 💖💖

I thought this was beautiful and really well done. The shot at 2:36 especially, with the pink overtaking the blue and Purple almost looking a little happy and confident with her realization, even though it has clearly caused her pain along the way. There were expectations for her to reciprocate Blue’s feelings, but despite being close, she couldn’t. Whether she’s gay (my guess, based on the pink on the wall) or aro, I hope she finds someone that makes her happy

I just discovered this and... I'm impressed!

I got to the midpoint of the video went "Huh this was a neat video. The theme love issues were beautiful, but on with my life now"
Then realized the vid wasn't actually over and the dark turn was... chilling.

The 3D model at 2:41 was BRILLIANT. Its that kind of phycological horror you get when you abruptly change art styles, and the vines, the flower, the bleedish cuts...
It was POWERFUL.

I think this PMV is about conflicting feelings. I think Purple (POV character) can not reciprocate the romantic or otherwise feelings Blue has for them, but Blue means the world to them. Not as just a friend, exactly, but something stronger than that while not being romantic.

But Blue sees their relationship as more romantic and keeps showing affection in that way and seeing their relationship that way, despite Purple seemingly making it apparent they cannot “love you” (Blue) back. Blue might not literally understand what Purple is talking about, or may not know how Purple feels, and it seems like Purple doesn’t know how to break it to them.

I think that’s what the symbolism of the purple color mesh on the wall obstructing the pink and blue was meant to represent (the scene with the rainbow tears, which may be an explicit reference to the LGBT+ community, asexual maybe?).

While Purple wants to be able to reciprocate these feelings and be what Blue wants (they still love Blue), what they individually want out of the relationship ends up hurting it, and by the end, we see throughout the PMV how that’s been hurting Purple internally. I think that’s why the ice statue is at the end, too.

I think it’s Purple trying to memorialize the Blue they knew, before leaving it behind (as we see in the middle of the PMV), and potentially moving on. It’s a coping thing, maybe.

Anywho, it’s crazy that any of this could be inferred in less than 5 minutes, let alone 4, so thank you for the awesome treat, animator :D

As an aroace person, I relate to this a lot, both the song and the pmv hit me in a way I wouldn’t have expected.

I seems like the purple dragon doesn’t feel the same way the blue dragon does, but wants to. They want to feel the same way the blue dragon does, to reciprocate their feelings and live happily with them, since they appear so nice and kind and sweet.. but they can’t. They can’t feel those feeling back and deep down they known that but they indulge the blue dragon anyways, hoping the feelings will grow on them. But they never do. And as an aroace person who so badly didn’t want to believe I was aroace, that hits close to home.

Even if that wasn’t your original goal/message, it’s just something I found. :] and if I was, then it’s nice to have a piece of media that shows how I, and probably many others, feel. Just helps to know your not alone <3

Being a person who has been on both sides, this is incredibly well animated and portrayed, also is a very difficult subject to talk about

The first time I watched this, I was taken aback by the artwork, but as I listened and watched the video, I realised how close to home this song and PMV hit to me. I haven't watched a video that stirs up such a buried, hidden (feeling? emotion?) in me ever before, and i admire your talent at art and storytelling.

It's good to see all these comments of people talking about psychological problems and how this song and animation helps them express their feelings when they physically cannot return the feelings of affection they're getting from a potential partner. These thoughts and feelings are valid and I'm glad people can express themselves as such.

Personally, though, I see this and see another take, particularly in both the language used and the characters in particular. I wish to share all this with whoever is interested enough to read it.

Purple and Blue here are Icewings from Wings of Fire, if I'm not mistaken. As a fan of those books, I do know what that likely means. The Icewing society functions with a heavy emphasis on their Hierarchy. Purple is likely from what they call "The first Circle", meaning they are the child of a noble family, possibly related to their royalty. As such, they have restrictions on who they're allowed to be with, both as friends, and as mates. Blue is likely the one they want. The one they care about, and Blue knows it and returns those feelings in kind. This is where the "can't" comes in; Purple is not allowed to feel love for Blue. They're not allowed show any affection towards Blue, and to do so will likely not only cost Purple themselves their place in said hierarchy, but their parents and siblings would suffer from their choices.


My point is, from lines like "those bright blue eyes can only meet mine, across a room filled with people less important than you", and "When you _know_ I can't love you." Mixed with the affectionate, happy-sad tone of how they describe the private cuddles and shows of affection, I interpret this as a story of two dragons who, because of a life neither of them chose, cannot be together, and how it's tearing Purple up inside that they cannot be with the one they love, to the point of near-self abuse over how maybe, just maybe it's their fault for even loving Blue in the first place.

That's my piece. Some parts of it comes from my own experiences, anxieties, and fears, and how my own filters take it. It's still good, and the best part of such media is that it can be taken in many different ways.

It's very obvious that this animatic is about how much it can effect both sides of the relationship when one of them doesn't love the other.

This goes along with the factor that every time the song says "Love" the dragon is hurt in someway, which is true. This love that they are receiving from one side hurts them. With the realization that they can't love back, they can't give this dragon what they are hoping they have for them.

But the constant fear of what comes out of telling them about this always comes into mind whenever they consider doing so.. The heartbreak that comes with something like that, the supposed love of your life telling you that they can't love you back.

So they continue, pushing through this constant reminder that this affection they are receiving they can't truly feel. They can't truly give back, yet the dragon believes that this is better then telling them.

That putting themselves through this constant mental torture and pressure is okay in the light of not putting someone else through it.

This animatic really captures this, whether or not this is portraying someone who's aroace, or simply doesn't love them romantically, I think its a great way to portray this in animation.

I truly want to hear what happened with these two, how it ended. Or if I'm just not perceiving the ending in the animation lol
