Video Summarized: The speaker purchased the M2 MacBook Pro 14 and has used it for 50 hours over the past week. He finds the laptop to be a perfect hybrid of power and compact size, with a good balance of performance and usability. He likes the body and shape of the laptop, the port selection, the typing experience, and the display. He dislikes the difficulties with connecting external monitors and the lack of a USB-A port. He finds the keyboard to be well-designed, with good keystroke balance and the display to be sharp and fast with a high refresh rate.

Here’s how I think about the M2 generation: if you have any M1 device, DON’T upgrade, but if you’re coming from Intel, 100% upgrade. I’m consistently blown away by my base model M1 Max Mac Studio. It’s the best piece of technology I’ve ever owned and I’m not upgrading for years!

Once this laptop came out, I purchased a refurbished M1 Pro 14 inch for a really cheap price and I absolutely love it

I've had my M2 Macbook Pro for around a year and a half now, and it's been everything I could have asked for and more. It's really is an incredible little computer.

For the monitor issue, make sure you Mac's charger is plugged in. It fixed the issue for me.

Upgraded to this machine from my 2012 Retina MacBook Pro (base). I didn’t realize how much I was missing. My productivity has increased so much because everything just works so fast and smoothly. Also, the 14’’ seems like the perfect size to me.

I have had ZERO issues with external displays. I’m running mine with an Alienware 25” monitor. Before that I had an LG monitor, no issues there either. Nor anytime I travel and used my portable Lepow monitor.

Just got the same computer and I have no issues with my LG display connected with HDMI. Connects immediately and is flawless.

I have an M1 Macbook Air, which I love and don't feel any need to upgrade. I also have an Intel Mac Mini (2014) which is still chugging along. I keep eyeing the new M2 Minis covetously, even though mine technically doesn't need replacing, haha!

I bought a 14" M1 MacBook Pro last year and I am super happy with it. I don't see a need in upgrading to the new M2. I feel like I don't even take advantage of all the power the M1 Pro had haha. If you're coming from an Intel laptop though it definitely would be worth the upgrade

It’s not just the power, but I like the faster Wi-Fi, so card slot and the hdmi 2.1…add ons that not many are not testing. That’s what’s stopping me from getting an M1.

Something that's forgotten in a M1 vs M2 comparison all the time: Yeah, the refurbished M1 will be 25% cheaper, but it also has an approximately 25% shorter software support lifespan ahead of it! Meaning it will be obsolete approximately 2 years earlier and that is extremely relevant for many!! If you already have the M1 you probably don't want to upgrade. But if you don't have any of them this has to be taken into consideration.

I have the M1 Pro 14.” When I got it, it was on July 24, 2022. On January 24, 2023, the M2 Pro and M2 Max machines launched. A mere 6 months later. Ouch. But then again, that was the best available thing for me to get. I won’t be upgrading for a long time, they’ll just launch a new one before you even know it. Of course it’ll be better and better than the previous models. Why wouldn’t it be?

Still on my MPB 14 M1 Pro. I don't even use it for it's intended purposes. I just watch youtube, netflix, email, MS word MS excel, surf the web all the super basic stuff on it. Just really liked the screen (120hz pro motion), the design, the speaker, and the battery life.

The M series has one major flaw...the screens are way too fragile and crack very easily and Apple will blame you for it. They claimed crumbs on the keyboard broke the screens on my M1 and M2. Yeah, crumbs. They didn't cover repair on my M1. Covered M2 because I bought Apple Care. Seems like a rip-off to me.
