I'm at a point in my life that if someone has a hidden camera in my bedroom or bathroom that's their problem. I will not apologize for the trauma they endure. 😂

Not gonna lie, I've covered every mirror, tv, and anything suspicious in hotel rooms since the 90s. I was called paranoid; I feel validated.

Anytime I rent a room I immediately begin doing naked jumping jacks in front of the mirror. If I don’t hear vomiting from the adjoining room then I’m confident it’s a legit mirrir.

This always freaks me out. My husband is a vet, he was an intel analyst, he combs the rooms we stay in when we travel and I am so grateful for that and luckily we've had no issues.

So I worked here and there for our government after a career in the military and one of the lessons they teach especially if going through or to the ME is to immediately turnoff the air and turn on your hot water in all faucets and let it steam up real good and when you see voids on the mirror where it won’t fog then you know it’s got a camera behind it. #Tradecraft101

I usually don't comment on videos but I worked at a mirror factory (car mirrors). I have done this test to many of the mirrors I helped make and... this is not totally true. It depends on the thickness of the glass and how the mirror product is applied. For example, I tested a product with thicker glass and the fingertips didn't touch; BUT, it was 2-way mirror. The opposite has also happened (thinner glass, fingertips touched but it was not 2-way).

If you really want to test your hotel mirror, turn off the lights and shine a flashlight at it. Check the WHOLE mirror. It's a 2-way mirror if you can see another room. Call the cops! Oh, and the mirrors that come off the wall most likely aren't a problem; it's the mirrors built onto the wall that you really want to worry about.

And don't forget to check for cameras.

We had a family vacation with two families, we had three teen age girls from ages 16yrs to 18yrs, We rented a Air B&B and it was a great house on the beach, of course the girls wanted their own area, fine. Adults took upstairs teenagers down. As I was putting stuff in the rooms, something didn't seem right about the rooms and bathrooms. Long story short, I told everyone to stop, I started looking around and found mirrors, cameras, and a hidden room. We loaded back up and called the police. Property owner came with HER partner (a woman) and said they knew nothing about it and was going to sue us. For damage to the property and our reservation rental fee. A few months later we get a call from the police from that vacation spot, telling us they had arrested the two women, someone turned them in, they found so much footage of different families and they were editing and posting on a web site and people were paying.

I had no idea about the saying about hotel/ motel "if there's no space leave this place"... but I will forever remember the saying while I'm traveling thank you for sharing this!!❤❤❤

I carry a flashlight everytime I go out of town. If you turn off the lights, put the flashlight against the glass, you can also see the room behind the mirror. Just don't do it in spot, do it all over the mirror, cause just a small part of the mirror can be 2 way.

Tip: As soon as you enter the room pick up a chair and throw it as hard as you can at the mirror. If it doesn't go through the wall you're good.

My mom and I went to a hotel in FL and we always check the mirrors. There was a big one in front of the bed and my fingers touched so we covered it with a blanket. Then some “maintenance “ guy knocked on the door to “check” to see if we had any issues with anything. Creepy. Definitely a red flag that it was him watching.

Edit: it was 20 years ago and I was a young teen with my mom. I don’t know the name of the hotel and wish we had thought to report it. All I remember was it was in FL

The finger test described above is a method for determining the difference between first-surface mirrors and second-surface mirrors, both of which are ordinary mirrors glazed in a different fashion. If a mirror is not hung on the wall but set INTO the wall, then turn off the lights in your room and while pressing your eyes up against the mirror and cup your hands around them (to block out the light from the room you're in): if you're truly dealing with a transparent mirror, you should be able to see at least a little something of the open area behind it.

Also, rapping on the mirror should provide an aural clue: ordinary mirrors have backings and are usually placed against walls, so rapping on them will generally produce dull thuds; transparent mirrors are set into walls with open areas behind them, so rapping on them should produce much more open, hollow sounds.

A hotel my husband and I stayed at back when I was a beached whale of 398lbs had one of those 2 way mirrors right in front of the bed… I told him, "I think I will give them a full moon tonight." I stripped off my clothes and got up on the bed and did a full bend over right in front of that mirror! The next thing we heard was a door slamming and we looked out the window to see someone running out of the room next to us… we called the police and they came out and found that there were 5 rooms with those mirrors in them… the manager and one other guy was arrested and the cops got a huge laugh out of what I told them I had done… 2+ years later I made it down to 150 lbs … it’s been 18 years since that hotel incident and I still have kept the weight off and feel great!

I had an aunt that would say you wouldn't buy a TV because the government was watching you through it. We all called her crazy ... And she was since This was before cameras on TVs but turns out she was on to something.
