Hello, Tfs you have answered so many questions for me. I’m currently reading this book June 2024. Thank you so much

Appreciate your thoughts on this in 2022. A few points of discussion - It's my understanding Morgan kills Jack's father because of wanting more power import/export to the territories in addition to Morgan in the territories wanting the father's twinner out of the way in order to consolidate power away from the queen. This is mostly given to us when Jack has a flashback about falling asleep behind the couch as a younger kid and hearing Morgan and his dad speaking about the possibilities of the Territories. It's a short scene in a long book and probably qualifies as bad writing however much sense it makes. The second thing is the concept you mention about poor racial representation is often called "Magical Negro"; so prevalent a trope that the list would be too long to list here, but all your examples were bang on. I've always had to justify it the same way you did in that it's always wretched characters who use it frequently in King's work, but again, with a hard look it's a sort of laziness to get right to the heart of "evil". Though it was educational as a kid to constantly see gross characters use hate speech. Great review! I'm going to check out your Black House review now, I disliked it as much as I liked Doctor Sleep, which is to say quite a bit.
