Bruenig outlines the main pillars that constitute the NLRB complaint, and provides some context to Jared’s experience while working for Steven Crowder, what that entailed, and what they’re hoping to achieve as the complaint is arbitrated and decided upon.

Gather round chill’un. It’s story time. Lemme tell you what I know about that little talking point.
Once upon a time, someone your dear ol’ uncle ‘Tiddies knew quit their company because of ethical reasons. This company became so enraged they called every single other company that were competitors and told them not to hire the person who quit; citing some pretty outlandish lies on the person.

“Now, Uncle Tidz. How could you even know that, ” I’m sure you’re asking. Well, babies, because that wonderful hard working human applied for one of the competitors because they had a friend who worked there and friend told them they could not get the hire approved by corporate and told the person the exact reason why: the lie told to their company by the person’s previous employer.

“Well, that person can sue, Uncle Tidderoonies! That’s illegal, ” I’m sure you must be thinking. But, only if someone is willing to put it in writing or testify to it and, guess what, kiddies — yep, you guessed it. No one was willing to do either one.

That good hard working person got screwed because they had a sense of morality and no lawyer or NLRB or even Batman could help.

If a former employer wants to screw you over, they will and there won’t be no such Annie-mule as “just finding a new job.”

We need better employee protections. Badly.

I started working a back in 2001 at the age of 16. For the first 20 years of my professional life I've heard countless bosses tell someone to quit if they don't like the job. About 5 or so year ago I started to notice employees doing exactly that. Just leave and find a new job. Apparently bosses really hate when you call their bluff. It reminds them that they aren't really all that important to their employees. That means they loose all leverage when trying to bully the workers. Times are changing, and they don't like it
