The problem with Schedule A jobs is that they're in limited areas of the country. There's mountains of red tape applying for federal jobs, hardly any remote jobs, and if you miss one little thing on your application process, you're out of the running. It's sounds good being Schedule A qualified (yes, I am and got a letter from my Orthopedic Surgeon), and I have a very nice Administrative background and still can't get a Schedule A job. I wish it was that easy! I'd be employed and not running out of unemployment. You also are passed over or put second in line, if there's a military or veteran in front of you.

So I finally landed a job using my Schedule A letter. Thanks so much for your help! I think I still have a few months to go before I actually start (not really sure yet). Actually, I went the non competitive route. It still took forever. 🤣

Great video and thank you (I got my first federal job in no small part to your videos)!
Question for you… would this apply to competitive details as well (specifically, the TIG requirement)? Thank you, have a great day!

Hello, thank you for sharing more about Schedule A hiring. QQ: Once you have your letter, does it ever expire when applying? Meaning, do you have to get a new letter every XX years?

Thanks for the info. I noticed that very few listings in a given agency have Schedule A/Disability hiring authority listed. Do you know if indicating having disability could have any effect on hiring for jobs where it is not listed?

Thank you so much I truly enjoyed your videos. My question is, can I use scheduled a in conjunction with my veteran preference? Would that help increase in getting a job?

Hi, I received a job offer as competitive service and they can only offer me a pay position on my current status WG3-5 (just to get my foot in the door) Can I use Schedule A form in the new hiring process with my extensive resume to increase my pay grade by the federal government handbook for pay steps? If so what are the steps? I haven't received the last job offer but have negotiated only on the competitive level. I didnt have a interview because i was offered the job because I was the only one who applied, I was making over 100 k at my last job with my own business. They want to offer me a GS 5-3, maybe 50 K. But I think I can get GS5-10 with the Schedule A form that clears me from competitive services.. Thoughts..

I apologies for my confusion 😅.I spoke with both my deputy chief and my agency’s SPPC, and they both are unaware of schedule A authority having the advantage to bypass time-in-grade. I’m schedule A and CPS, but I was hired competitively. I’d like to advance to the next grade in my ladder (11/12) before the end of my 52 weeks and I meet the qualifications required for a 12 in my series in both my external experience and my education. Is this possible? Where can I direct them to verify this information?

Hi Kasey; I had a question. I am still waiting on my FJO at the VA. My T1 background check came back as "favorable". I am still in the credentialing phase. It seems like this is taking forever. Can a possible government shutdown cause HR to slow down and wait on the crentialing process? I thought you might know. I appreciate all your help on my VA job journey!

So Schedule A is basically just another type of hiring path? Does it mean that you will always be referred to the hiring manager if you meet the qualifications of the job?

Great video, thank you so much. I was provided with a letter from my doctor that states what my medical condition is but it did not say that I was eligible for schedule A. Will this suffice or should I request a different letter that states I am eligible for schedule A? Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the information. So, you're saying that a 12 can apply for a 14/15 and be considered (if KSA's apply) by using their schedule A benefit? Does Veterans preference stick or fall off after being hired into government?

Once someone told me that applicants with Schedule A start out on the high end of the pay scale (maybe due to time in grade?). Is there any truth to this? Does it work the same for every agency?
