Just as a reference for anyone having trouble getting it working, I'm on Java 1.19.3 on a realm, and it works for me. I was really struggling getting it to work, until I stood on the left, and broke the string on the right. If I break the string on the right with the shears and flip the lever as soon as it clicks, it starts working

For anyone having trouble on a Fabric server, I switched the stone brick and lever on the left side trap door instead of the right. Go on the right side and break the left trip and switch the lever like in the video. I essentially just mirrored the build. Not sure if it was human error but I got it working right away.

I have been trying for two (real life) days and it worked. If u having problem where's what i did:
Disabled mods (i was using forge 1, 19, 3 and it didn't worked, u need vanilla)
F3 and both strings must have west and east as true
Flip lever once u shear right string.
(u shear by normally clicking left button, the same to destroy blocks. f3 to see if its already disarmed)

Just a reminder that this farm works on a 1.20 but unforcunetly it's not working on paper, in my case i am playing on server with my friend and the server is paper ( spigot and buckit ) and it's not working there, I am able to duplicate 2 strings at a time but it's not going full afk, I joined singleplayer world and I got the afk part 10 times in a row and I realy think that is is due to server not my techniqe ^-^ gl to everyone and greate farm btw

If you build it to the north or west you don't have to restart it all the time using the shears, activating the lever is enough

This has to be the weirdest farm ever, but it works perfectly. With farms like this I always wonder who came up with this, and how? How do you get into this oddly specific scenario to discover such a bug? More power to whoever discovered it though. Love it.

If you have problem you need to time start right. after breaking string you have around 1s. And great way to count secound is to say number in head and and Missispi (yes that city) at end. This way you should have ability to start that more easly

For those who are trying on forge there is a problem. The shear will destroy the string instead of activating the string (or whatever). And for me i had to buld the farm facing west (south didnt work for me). So i did the dupilcating part in normal version without any mods (1.19.3) becuz only then the shear will do whats its supposed to do. Then after the farm started working i exited minecraft then entered using forge and it still worked.

found the thing thats bugging:
first of all you need to stay on the top left then just break the right string and click the lever.
if it dosent work try slowing a bit down and try again
if the water first become straight then out again you were to fast. slow down
