The Porter's Gate - Instrument of Peace

In July of 2020, The Porter's Gate Worship Project quarantined a small group of musicians at a farmhouse in rural Virginia to write and record new worship songs around the themes of justice and lament. The result is two albums "Justice Songs" and "Lament Songs."

This song is based on "The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi."

Wow, beautiful song. Thank you. I love the reference (intentional?) to Acts 20:35 ("In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”) in the lyrics of verse 1: "for in the giving we shall receive."

I always thought of that verse as applying to financial generosity. This song helped me see it could also apply to ways of living and blessing others in the world. Thanks again for the beautiful song-- you've given me a lot to think about. Can't wait for the full project! God bless.

I can't wait to hear your new albums. "Daughters of Zion" was so good and the only song I really knew for lament. My church is going to add an aspect of lament each week to their service and I can't wait to share with them these songs.
