You guys voted on Instagram that you wanted to see this today.
I cut open a charcoal bamboo insert and a microfiber insert to show you what they look like on the inside. ❤️

I’ll come back later to do the description box! lol I’m really busy today.

My question for you:
Do YOU like charcoal bamboo?

YAASSS! This video NEEDED to be made. I’ll totally be sending this to cloth diapering beginners who ask about charcoal bamboo. I got tricked into charcoal bamboo when I was first starting out and the fact that companies can market this combination as “bamboo” is gross!

I have experimented a lot with different inserts and diapering systems. I have cloth diapered 2 children from birth to potty training. Currently on my third 6 months in. Charcoal bamboo worked better than plain microfiber for me, but flour sack towels and receiving blankets worked 4 times better than either of those for me. I have used hemp and bamboo flats and prefolds and they do work great but I prefer to use those at night or for long car trips. 😊 everyone finds what works for them.

I was bamboozled at the beginning of cloth diapering with charcoal bamboo. Then I realized I liked prefolds and flats more, especially for cleaning.

I expected the inner layers to be grey, so the microfiber would show less at the serged edge. I only used cotton on my baby in the eighties, but now I am going to be a grandmother, and am researching all the modern options. Microfiber is bad for the water supply. And I am not impressed with the compression leaks I read about. Thanks for your helpful videos.

We use right now 90% charcoal bamboo (which is microfiber inside that is white like shown here), I like them because they are absorbent, don’t show stains and dry very fast... but I’m finding I’m have compression leaks with my heavy wetter babies that are so active now. I currently have a 9 month old and a 2 year old in cloth. Think I’m having to switch into trying hemp/cotton. I’ve been cloth diapering for 22 months now and think I’m realizing how I don’t love microfiber for my babies. I think when they’re younger it was fine, but now they’re active... I need no leaks please! Loved this video though, glad your “putting the truth out there” for people interested in cloth diapering.

Its a gimmick. instead of buying a set of 12 Charcoal bamboo inserts for $30, buy 6 good flats. they’ll wash and dry better and they’re twice as absorbent

I wish I had come access this video before buying extra "charcoal bamboo" inserts😭😭😭

Definitely agree with Jessica. I hate microfiber so I never thought about using charcoal bamboo. Microfiber always smells when I use it, even after it's been stripped.

Charcoal colored microfiber insert that contains zero bamboo 😡

There is such thing as charcoal bamboo fleece. I wouldn’t buy any fabric at Amazon just because it’s so easy for people to lie and send poor quality products. The charcoal is what makes the fabric micro antibacterial.

Charcoal, bamboo isn’t a term for bamboo fiber . It’s a term for charcoal, made from bamboo. It’s not referring to the type of cloth, it refers to the fact that it’s dyed black or grey with charcoal made from bamboo.
But I get it’s confusing.

I'm not a big fan of the charcoal bamboo insert. I use only pocket diapers and I did get a small pack of the charcoal bamboo inserts which I got off of Amazon. I liked that they were thin but they leaked on me...same with microfiber. After watching your videos on prefolds, I made a switch and tried them out. I LOVE prefolds now! They're all I will ever use in my pockets, those and flats. Prefolds and flats are my fave!!! I don't think I can go back to those pocket inserts. I actually donated all my microfiber inserts to a doula who is teaching moms how to cloth diaper and she wanted to use them for her classes.

Charcoal Bamboo is activated charcoal with many health benefits and one of them is to reduce the funky smell.

From what I understand, the grey colour is because they mixed charcoal (made from bamboo) in with the synthetic during the manufacture of the fleece, microfibre or whatever. It makes it stand out from the regular synthetic inserts and then they can pretend absorbs smells etc blah (though if the porous surface of the charcoal is covered in plastic as it's bound in the fabric, then haha, no).

So it contains something derived from bamboo, despite definitely not being made of bamboo, and the charcoal in the name refers to more than colour, but it's shitty and confusing 😒. I also wonder whether using charcoal as filler during manufacture makes it cheaper to make...

Hey gurl! Can you do a vid on the lies of some bamboo inserts? How they are marketed to be bamboo however on the inside it’s microfiber! Like in some of Alva bamboo type inserts or lilhelpers inserts! I was so fooled by that brand 🤬
When I was new I bought a whole stash and was sooo excited to use them and they NEVER worked ! From fit to function they always leaked! I finally cut one of their coveted bamboo inserts open and it was microfiber!!! ☹️ Talk about betrayed! 🥺
Anywho I know you did a vid on the lie of some charcoal bamboo however this too needs to be talked about as well😒

Most companies do in the fine print state that the "charcoal" is the color

I was almost taken in by charcoal bamboo but found out they were microfiber before buying.

I started out by buying a a few varieties of pocket nappys and I grabbed a pack of charcoal bamboo and a pack of bamboo incerts because I wanted to AVOID microfiber 😐 turns out BOTH contained microfiber 😣 did more research and after playing around with the pocket nappys (seeing what we liked/what worked) I've invested in some wraps and flats... Plus I like how the flats work with the pockets I already have! I really feel like it's misleading to call them "bamboo charcoal" when it's just essentially plastic 😳
I'll be selling the *microfiber* inserts for dirt cheap (basically just to cover postage and fees) so they don't go to waste 😢
