Rupert Sheldrake: Science Set Free | EU2013

In this re-release of his EU2013 Conference talk, Rupert Sheldrake describes how science is being constricted by assumptions hardened into dogmas—all of reality is material or physical; the world is a machine, made up of inanimate matter; nature is purposeless; consciousness is nothing but the physical activity of the brain; free will is an illusion.

On January 5th, 2013, he gave this captivating hour-long lecture at EU2013 in Albuquerque—then exactly one week later his 18-minute talk at TEDxWhitechapel in London was "banned" and mired in a prolonged controversy after it was taken out of circulation by TED, relegated to a corner of their website and stamped with a warning label.

Dr. Sheldrake is a biologist and author of over 90 scientific papers, 9 books, and co-author of 6 books. He studied natural sciences at Cambridge, philosophy and history of science at Harvard, then returned to Cambridge in 1967 for his PhD in biochemistry.

2022 marks the 10-Year Anniversary of "Science Set Free" (UK title – "The Science Delusion") first published in September 2012.

Well out of the 43 thousand hours my browser has accumulated in activity, this is one of the best hours I've watched, and wrote down key points in my book.

Brilliant thinker. And can engage an audience, talking for an hour using a short list of topics to guide his verbal presentation. Now consider politicians and the human populations listening to them.

The belief that the ratio of material and matter remains constantly the same is kind of ridiculous at its core considering no human ever was able to precisely measure the whole of the existence of energy and or material.

"So I think that instead of knowing almost everything which is the common assumption, we know very little indeed. And the dogmatism we all encounter comes from a belief system, a worldview, which has long outlived it's usefulness. It's long past it's 'sell-by date'. And as we move on from it, science will be set free in all sorts of ways. And I think we'll see a scientific renaissance, and I think this gathering is part of it."

This is the best presentation I have ever seen so far. My wish is to see Rupert one day and have coffee with him.

Quite an excellent talk. This is what happens when you actually LOOK at what's going on, without dogma.
