CORRECTIONS/COMMENTS:
29:12 - Matt forgot to subtract 1 for his Aqueduct bonus. This means he should have only drawn 10 workers from the bag.
1:04:56 - Matt took 3 out of the bag, but only put 1 back in instead of 3.
1:05:44 - Matt should have gained 1 advancement on his aqueduct as a bonus for flipping that tile.
1:15:49 - I could have placed another worker onto my middle market place because of the matching 2 activator.

Thanks for showing this game off. I played it once and found it very interesting and would try it again to see how it feels a second time. The mechanisms are integrated nicely and how workers come and go is unique.

I experienced something that you alluded to in your discussion where if some of the players play better early in the game it can feel like they snowball to a victory since they are receiving fewer workers at year end. This means that early decisions are very important. This is a fine design decision, however, if your opponent is taking significantly fewer workers from the bag at year end it can feel just a tad demoralizing.

I also had the same thought reading the rulebook where I didn't realize the goal was to get rid of your workers until I got to the end of the rulebook. However, it does state this goal on page 3 in the History +Goal of the game section. I wonder how many people reading the rules for the first time will miss that also.

That was fantastic! Watching a board game played by Jon and Matt is the best TV since Laverne and Shirley.
But wow, what a brutal game, is there no catch-up mechanism built in?
Looking forward to the next one 😀!!

I laughed at Jon's "Done? Uh!" at 44:30. I think we've all been there, admiring a play and really wishing they hadn't made it!

Your playthrough convinced me to order a copy of the game.

Great game, maybe the best euro game of 2022. How it offers all a euro typically gives you (bonuses, tracks, race for goals, upgrade, buildings) but without needing to use victory points, is unique and it works all so well togteher.

Never heard of this game - I was wondering if it was an ironically-named sequel to Concordia!

At about 29:15, Matt forgets to subtract 1 (aqueduct) from the number of meeples to draw. At about 1:05:00, Matt takes 3 meeples but only puts one back in the bag.

@1:25:13 If you look - To defeat the Germans you need 4 points. The guy at the top of the screen on the left HAS 4 points. Three men on the red card BUT that other card in the top-right of his board says he get ONE(1) additional armies. So 3 on the main board and 1 equal 4. At least - that is what it looks like to me. :-) Unless that "1" means one point - but I don't think that is what it means.

Why did Matt forego the boat option at 33:12? He could have advanced exploration and snagged a tower. One tower even had a "1" on it that could have been used immediately. The only reason I can think of is a shortage of stars, but Matt still had 5 stars.

1:05:40: Matt should have gotten a bump on the track from flipping the tile, correct?

At 1:00:30 ish, does Jon miss taking the Development action for taking a 5?

At 1:15:49, couldn’t you have also placed a person on the middle farm tile as well?

This game looks clever and fun. Hopefully it gets some distribution in the U.S.

Thanks for the playthrough!

This is on my wish list now.
Any word when this going to be available in the USA?

I like the idea of this game, but upon reflection I feel there is too much randomness for me with the dice drafting. I feel like I wouldn't mind so much if this was a more typical roll-and-pick game where it's mostly multiplayer solitaire, but with the race element for decrees and so on the randomness becomes obnoxious instead of fun. In addition, I also feel like, as you said, the game has a significant snowball element to it. This isn't a problem in itself - indeed I like snowballing mechanics generally - but snowballing mechanics exacerbate issues with randomness and that seems to me to be an issue with this game.

Overall I'm afraid to say that it's not for me. I have been loving these playthroughs though!
