The JRR Tolkien classic Lord of the Rings is one of the most iconic fantasy franchises ever. The world of Middle Earth as portrayed in The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King are the envy of every writer, and they were perfectly adapted into a perfect LOTR film trilogy by director Peter Jackson. However, a lot of the production was troubled... one of the biggest issues being that Aragorn, one of the franchise leads, was recast with actor Viggo Mortensen AFTER production had already begun. But that didn't stop Mortensen from loving the part and giving it his all.

What was your favorite part of Lord of the Rings? Let me know!

Sean Bean also said Viggo would just run up to him backstage and just rugby tackle him randomly and without warning 😂

Viggo Mortensen is Aragorn pretending to be Viggo Mortensen playing Aragorn.

Also, the choreographer Bob Anderson, said viggo was one of the best swordsman he worked with and gave him his sword.

He went fishing in full costume in between shots. He broke his tooth and wanted it to be superglued back so he can continue as soon as possible. They had to convince him to go to the dentist, again in full costume

You forgot the part where he voluntarily trained with the horses he worked with outside of shooting and even slept with them in their stables a few times to create a real bond to be seen on screen. (And at the end he loved those horses so much he bought them from the original owner and kept them until they passed away a few years back)

Well, you don't get bestowed Anduril, the Flame of the West, and not carry it with you at all times. This makes perfect sense.

Also using steel sword saved his life. When another actor accidentally threw dagger at his face he deflected the dagger with the sword, what would be impossible with lighter version

Did you know that the screen right before Boromir dies, when Aragorn deflects a knife mid-air wasn't staged? It was unexpected and he managed to avoid getting seriously hurt by doing it for real.

Its interesting that in the Ralph Bakshi animated film the sword Aragorn had was all chipped and damaged, but Viggo wanted to show that the Aragorn in the live action kept his blade sharp witha wetstone.

He is then seen using that whetstone at least once in each movie, iirc.
Extended editions are the only editions, so don't @ me about FotR.

It paid off when ya hear that dagger throw is a real dagger 🗡️ Viggo had chucked at his face & he knocks it away like a Real King of Gondor

No surprise. He's one of our generation's best actors. Only a fool would squander a role in a Tolkien work.

Viggo is one of those real deal actors who you wish you saw in more things but at the same time you are also glad he isn’t.

It’s a draw when he is in something.

I've heard awesome stories about the guy. He's great fun to be around and committed to his roles. Which is awesome.

Yeah I would carry a sword everywhere if I could get away with it

Also heard a fun fact that Jackson offered him an appearance in The Hobbit but Viggo turned it down bc Aragorn wasn't in the book. Good guy Viggo keeps winning.

The music is called "Could you really rest" and it is a game soundtrack from Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
