The sword master on set training the actors said Viggo was a natural swordsman. So cool there’s a real shot of him displaying his skills!!!

What always gets left out of this story, and I talked with a stunt guy that was there for these scenes who elaborated on it, is that Vigo trained to deflect the dagger for this scene. He was meant to hit the dagger with his sword, and the training consisted of tossing the dagger at vigo slowly, and ramping up the speed with an air cannon. It is true, the stuntman in the Uruk Hai suit threw the dagger right at Vigo when he was supposed to throw it past Vigo, but the safety of the scene made everyone prepared if something went wrong. Something did, and training saved the day. Shout out to stunt coordinators everywhere

I wish they made a movie of Aragorn story when Viggo was still younger. He's amazing, i love how he embodied the character, for me no other actor can play Aragorn, Viggo is Aragorn.

ACTUALLYYY.. they were supposed to cut the scene and replace the knife with a rubber prop version, but the director was on another side of the forest tending to the actor who played Sam who had stepped on a fish hook in the river. So they never yelled cut, and due to all the events and drama a real dagger was thrown, and Viggo is a FUCKING LEGEND for deflecting that. They kept the scene because the sound of the knife hitting the sword and ringing off of it was so amazing.
