I always liked this fact, it explained that Erlond actually had much deeper connection and care for Aragorn than "just random dude who wanted tho snatch his daugter".
It also gives much more depth to conversation with Arwen about choosing mortal life.
Not only did he have same choice to make, but also had to live through his brother getting old and dying. And now same will happen to his daugter.

In Reality, Aragorn is descendant of the Numenoreans a set of people who helped the Elves in the first age, guided by Elros, who became their king. They were blessed by Eru Ilúvatar, "God" (Not the gods) with the wonderful island of Númenor and long life (specially the royal line). It's long life did NOT come from his Elven roots. ALL Númenoreans (without elve ancestors) had long lives. The Island then was sink because Sauron corrupted them to seek inmortality, and few survived.

It’s honestly amazing that Elrond. Even though he had to watch his twin brother grow old and die. Got to watch the his offspring multiply and eventually lead to Aragorn.

Aragorn didn't even get the full gift of the numenorians. I think Elros lived to be 500+, and while no other lived as long as he did, they lived close to it. I believe they got other buffs, like being nearly 8 feet tall and having foresight. Aragorn only got foresight and he lived to 210. Also the numenorians were given the option to just kinda, , , give up on living. Like they could decide to die at any moment if they so chose. I dunno if that passed to aragorn
