How to check your tire tread

Your tire’s tread is important. It’s one reason why when you drive, you don’t go skidding off the road when going around a corner. Checking your tire tread is easy, and the only tool you need is a toonie!

Step-by-step
1. Get yourself a toonie.
2. Put the toonie in your tire’s tread. If it reaches the bear’s paws, your tires are probably pretty new. If it reaches all the way across the silver, they’re about 50% worn. If your tire tread reaches only about half-way into the letters, it’s time to shop for new tires. Maybe put this toonie towards your purchase.

Tip: you can buy a tread depth gauge if you’re looking for a very accurate measurement.

"When the rubber hits bear feet, you know you're safe to hit the street.

When silver's crossed it's fair to mention, that now it's time to pay attention

And when 2 dollars become divided, we know new tires shall be provided!"

If the rubber meets the bear, you're OK if you drive with care.
If the rubber only touches gold, your tires are starting to get old.
If the rubber crosses half the letter, then you need to get something better.

When Toonie meets the bears paws, the tires still have lots of claws.
When at the top of the silver letters, the tires are "typically" 50% worn or better.
And when it meets the middle of the words on the coin, it's time to get some new tread on.

Thanks for this video! Cheers!

This test is actually really accurate and easy. If you are buying used tires, it's a simple way to know what kind of deal you are getting.

When the rubber hits the bear you know your tires are fair
If the rubber is below money, you will need new tires honey

When It Touches The Bear, Your Tires Have Good Ware. When It Toches The Silver Its Getting Thinner. When Its Close To The Rim, Time To Turn Em In.

When the rubber rubs the bear, you know you're safe in there,
when the rubber meets silver and gold, you're still quite good to go,
but if the rubber's halfway or less into letters, it's time to get better.

This is a great video, but after checking my old tires I'm selling, I thought to check my brand new X-ice2 tires, they're only halfway between the silver and the feet with no wear.

Great Toonie Tip for Telling Tire Tread! Thanks for the Video! Here is my rhyme for remembering your Tire Toonie Tips:
"Take a Toonie to your tires
if you see its bear feet
that's neat and likely new tires

if it shows all the gold
they're about half-old

if you only see half the silver letters
you'd better start looking for newer tires " Alex M with summer RX8 & winter BMW 328xi !!

With the Tooney if the black reaches the paws you can say awe im in the clear.
If the tread is down to the shiny metal it’s nothing to worry about you can settle.
If the tread only reaches the letters, it’s certainly better to get a new set

Feet = 'First',
Silver = 'Second'
Letters = ' Last'
FSL - feet, silver, letters OR first, second, last
