If the tyre is warm, inflate it slightly HIGHER than the placarded setting, because when it cools, it will reduce in pressure back down to the placarded setting.

Some information I picked-up the other day for my 4x4 is that different tyres may require different pressures. So I now check with tyre experts rather than rely on the car sticker or book.
